TrackIR software will not run.

All of a sudden I cannot start my TrackIR software due to an error:

"TrackIR.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have tried to reinstall and delete the program folder to remove any bad profiles but the problem persists.

Have you made any changes to the system, lately?

What other TSR applications do you have running in the background?

Does this occur, if the hardware is not plugged in?

The last change I made was the addition of the Matrox triplehead2go, however I had been testing it with FS9 and the TrackIR was working for a while.

Here's my process list. uTorrent, FireFox and MSN are not typically running when I go to start TrackIR so I crossed them off.



Yes, the problem still occurs when the TrackIR 4 is unplugged.

By some random luck I have managed to run the software once or twice but the TrackIR remains unlit.

I forgot to mention, I also tried to run the NPRegFix and that comes up with the same sort of error. Possibly related?

Note: Windows does recognize the TrackIR, I was merely running NPRegFix for posterity.

Issue resolved.

Somehow I ended up with a copy of the TrackIR.exe application in my toolbar instead of the shortcut (by somehow, I mean I'm an idiot). I only caught it because the application was creating a settings file in the toolbar which I just spotted a minute ago.

Anyway, thanks for your help Vincent. I hope this post helps anyone else who makes the same dumb mistake.
