Track ir problems this weekend?

Post by Snivly »

Funny how it seems that a lot of us have a similar problem.
Using Vista 32 and it seems that sometime in the last week my track ir has gone to the dogs.It is constantly tracking and then not.
I see in vista's resource monitor hard faults occuring in msmpeng.exe and the odd one in trackir.exe.Turn off trackir and no errors?

I had dep setup for trackir before and disabled it to see if that would help but it seemed to get worse .

Using AH2 last night and I had numerous problems with trackir with dropouts. On the trackir panel I see even when it connects a flashing on the status bar saying connected then no data.

While playing I did get a massive fault which seems to have occured in windows one care , not only that but it took about 5 minutes to send a report to MS on some sort of dump.

Looking at the topics in this forum it would seem that this is suddenly happening to a few all at once? I doubt that this is a hardware failure.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

I had a bit of time to look at it last night ,changed a lot of usb connections and the results are.

Trackir ok using my martian antenna's as the wife calls them .
Trackir with trackclip, flakey very flakey.

Looking at the input screen the clip (or individal points) seems to flicker and flare green to red and out almost when just sitting there .

Time for another clip?

Are you talking about the TrackClip Pro? (attached to the left side of the headset?)

Just the three green on the tracking screen, any other dots?

Yes thats it ,if I get a chance later I tried using fraps to record the view ,but no luck.

It would appear to be a loose or frayed wire in the track clip pro, since if i hold it on a solid object in relation to the track ir (4 pro for reference)it seems ok hold it by hand and you see a flickering of the green dots from green to red and back (its been working since January)and occasionally no and it will vary between the center and bottom lights mainly .
Hence why I said time for another track clip, The camera is fine

IS there anything else on the tracking screen that is green?

As the LEDs are not switching from green to red, that is the software using them as tracking points, and not as tracking points.

Can you send me a screen shot of the tracking screen?

Well, you do look a little close to the camera.....

When the center one turns red, does something else turn green?
