Sorry to post again, but I just want to condense the three issues that I've encountered and posted before to find out if there's a solution...
1) I can't map hot keys on my USB MS FF Sidewinder 2 joystick or...
2) my PS/2 MS intelimouse (I'd like the center mouse button to center my view for FPS).
2) The TrackIR, when mounted upside down, does not respond appropriately when running FS2002 mode (all motions are inverted) despite changing the settings (I selected the inverted trackIR picture in the cursor settings without success, and then I tried selecting invert x and y axis without success).
My specs: Dell 8200, XP home, P4 2.2, GFTi4400, using your latest NaturalPoint software.
I've checked your FAQ/articles section and noted some earlier trouble with using the mouse center button, but these were appearantly resolved with subsequent NaturalPoint software (that thread was from September).
Thanks!

Sorry but need some tech support...
Re: Sorry but need some tech support...
Hello and Thanks!
Yes, the .dll problem was solved most easily with a simple reinstall of the software; not sure what the inital problem was, but FS2002 is looking great now with the TrackIR; very immersive and a worthwhile investment as far as I'm concerned!
Mounting upside down wasn't a big deal, but it just would have put the sensor a little closer and more in line with my "dot"; I haven't actually had any trouble with the sensor failing to "see" my dot now that it's right-side-up, so that really isn't an issue.
As far as programing the hotkeys to my joystick, I'm still hoping someone will have some advice; I've noticed other people have been able to do so with their MS Sidewinder 2 joystick, so their advice would be greatly appreciated.
Overall a really fun product! It's hard to describe how immersive it is, especially with 3D glasses! You guys should market the TrackIR at places like auto shows or air shows...set up a few units and a projector screen, let people see it in action...it really seems like something that will catch fire as more people experience it and as you fine tune the supporting software. Are you a publicly traded company?!

Hello:
Thanks for the enthusiasm! No, not public as of yet.
I agree that it is hard to let people know how cool the device is without trying it. That is why we need and have such great word of mouth, once people try it they are usually converted.
Someone will pop in this thread to help with the joystick, I know it is doable.

Hi Betablocker,
I too have MSFF2 and I think you may need to actually close off the NaturalPoint software before programming the joystick profile. It took me a while to figure this out and am not completely sure why it's like this but give it a try.
For instance, I have button 3 as pause/unpause (F9 for TIR). So simply shut down the TIR software go into joystick profile and press F9 in button 3 to do so. If the NP software is running it doesn't accept the keypress properly showing only a little blank space instead of an F9 icon.
At this point the joystick button 3 will work in normal windows or in whatever game such as IL2.
Hope this helps!
btw Jim, I think I have your new slogan for marketing the TIR! Ahem...

Ok, for the joystick mapping...
1. Turn on TrackIR software and map what you want to keyboard commands.
2. Shut off trackIR software.
3. Go into your joystick software and map whatever buttons your want to the same keyboard key as you mapped in the TrackIR software.
4. Load that profile.
5. Restart TrackIR software.
6. Have a blast!

Hello:
I can help here a bit, but hopefully one of our experienced users can add some advise about the joystick issue.
You can't map hotkeys to your mouse buttons in any way, as far as I know. You can map hotkeys to your joystick, if you have software running that allows this to happen. You must be able to enter in the same key in the joystick software as in our software, then it should work just fine.
There is a know issue with the rotation settings not taking effect in FS2002 mode. I guess we just haven't had many people mount it upside down! This will be fixed in version 2.0 of our software, due out in a week or so.
Did we fix the FS2002 DLL problem?

You bet. Nothing makes a flight simmer happier than a properly working TrackIR.
