hey sparky,I'v had the same problems and I'v tracked it down to that on my rig the trackir is not getting enough power since i upgraded to X1950 pro which requires an ungodly amount of power, and of cause add to that my x-52 which is drawing juice as well and my little ol 480w supply just couldn't keep up,which caused all sorts of problems including getting sluggish after a few minutes of playing any game(IL-2 and lock-on)
not sure if this is whats causing your prob but its something to check out.
good luck

Re: Sluggish in game
Hello Folks
I just had the same problem as Sparky. I recently had to clear my computer and reload Windows. After everything was setup I ran IL-2 1946 for the first time and Track IR was very erratic and sluggish. Out of the game everything looked good, tracking, heads, and gauges. Track IR also worked fine when used in BOB WOV.
Before my system reset I had Default Profile box checked and edit to my liking. I notice I didn't have any of the Profile boxes checked after reloading my system. This time I checked the Combat Flight Profile, and edited it to the profile I liked. Then tried the game and everything worked great. I don't think it matters which Profile you have checked, as long is one of them is checked and the settings you like edited.
Maybe Sparky's long gone but it may help someone else.

Re: Sluggish in game
edit last post.
I'm not sure how Track IR loads different profiles when different games are launched. While playing around with the Profiles I set the two games that I use Track IR with to the Default profile and edited my default profile to my requirements. I'm able to use the same profile with BOB WOV and IL-2 as IL-2 only uses the first two (Yaw,Pitch). Anyway I did not need a check mark by the Default profile in this case. I think maybe the most important thing is having your game pointing to the right profile.

Re: Sluggish in game
Was this ever fixed? I have Track IR 3 pro with the latest drivers/software. I have it installed on an XP partition with IL 1946. Sometimes it will just get sluggish and if I move my head out of the the field it will often pop back in as not slow.
Is the Track IR v4 any better. This is very annoying.
Thanks.

1 - Which version of the TrackIR software are you running?
2 - Looking at your TrackIR profiles, located here by default (C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles), what is the file size of each profile listed here?
3 - What other applications do you have running in the background? Any firewall/anti-virus applications?
4 - Have you disabled the the periodic news check, under Options?
5 - Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.
6 - What version of Windows are you runing?
7 - Are you conected dorectly to the PC, or using a hub?

Re: Sluggish in game
Could the hotkey for precision mode be accidentally pressed, when this occurs?

Re: Sluggish in game
No, it's not that. But after messing around a little bit I think I've got it fixed!
Played for a while tonight in IL2 and it seemed much more solid. It was probably a combination of all the above.
Thanks for the help. I'll report back if it acts up again.
