Hi all,
I just bought a new computer system and went from Win XP/Flight Sim 04 to Vista Home Premium 32bit/Flight Sim X. I was happy to see that my TrackIR4 worked just fine on my new setup, but that didn't last too long. The problem is not the hardware, it seems, but the software. I just cannot get the TrackIR application to run. I tried several un-/reinstalls, but the result is still the same. I can see Vista working for a second when I click the icon, but the program just doesn't open... for some reason. TrackIR.exe (or something in that direction) is in the list of Vista tasks though (when opening the task manager).
Why is this happening? Is there some kind of Vista compatibility issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running the software as an ADMIN?
Which version of the TrackIR software are youy running?

I have only one account in my Vista, which is an Admin account yes. The software is Version 4.1.030 - Final B, downloaded from your site (I tried also the one found on the included CD rom, the result was the same).

Additional info: It worked just fine for the first couple of times, the program opened fine and all, but then it just wouldn't work anymore. Even after several un-/reinstalls.

Hi Husky, If you have selected 'Run Minimised' and/or 'Close to Tray', when you double-click the desktop TrackIR Icon all that shows is a small icon in the tray bottom right; you need to double-click that to open the TrackIR Window. The top right or top left Icons will only close the TrackIR Window, you need to select File/Exit to close the program.

Hi Bogan, that's a good thought, checked it out though, and couldn't find any TrackIR icon in the tray. And if the program was running in the background properly, I guess the TrackIR should function in the simulator, which it doesn't.

When you uninstalled, did you delete the NaturalPoint folder as well, before reinstalling?

Yeah, I think I removed the folder as well.
In addition to the stuff that's included in Vista Home Premium(firewall etc), I'm running F-Secure antivirus 2008. Could any of these protective programs be causing the failure of TrackIR to launch?

The firewall/antivirus might be blocking the TCP/IP connection of the TrackIR software, which is then causing the software to not load.

Disabled both windows firewall and antivirus software, which was of no help. I got a feeling something else in Vista is preventing the application from running, since I never experienced any problems whatsoever in XP. Any other suggestions as to what kind of application/function or whatever is causing this failure of TrackIR to launch?? I'm running out of ideas and I miss my TrackIR flying so badly...
