Trackir 4 pro not detected in Vista x64

Post by Lordquake »

HELP!

Had my TrackIR 4 pro vector expansion for over a year working fine in XP.
My new computer is running Vista Business x64.

Trackir is detected as "unrecognized device"

I have downloaded and installed Version 4.1.030 - Final B of the trackir drivers. Still detected as above.
Have tried numerous USB ports on PC, all other USB devices work in the ports fine.

I have also downloded Nregfix from the website. It says "no devices detected that need to be fixed"

Can someone please provide a solution?

Thank you.

Had you tried install with the 4.1.028 software, initially?

Have you tried manually pointing to the Drivers folder?

Hello,

Initially after installing the new system I plugged in the trackIR and let Vista (x64) detect the device, it failed.
I then installed the latest driver pack from your site and plugged in the device again.
In device manager it was listed as unknown device, no drivers loaded or required. I pointed it to the drivers folder that the trackir software has installed and Windows immediately blue screened.
When I connect it, the little red standby light illuminates and vista reports an unrecognized device.

Are you plugging the unit directly to the motherboard, or ar you plugging into a hub of some kind?

What type of system?

Hello,

I have conected it directly to the front and back panel USB Ports. The BIOS is set for both USB 2.0 and 1.0.

The system is:

Asus P5WDH Deluxe mainboard.
Intel 6600 core duo CPU.
4GB DDR2 6400 RAM.
Nvidia 8800GT 512MB Graphics card.
Vista Business x64.

The TrackIR software lists two drivers, 32 and 64 bit in explorer along with one .inf file in the folder.
From device manager on update driver page, i can only select the .inf file and then the system blue screens.
I was thinking it may be trying to use the 32 bit driver?

I have had exactly the same problem and symptoms with other USB devices on my other Vista system, logitech released a driver update specific for x64 Vista, it solved the problem.

Are there any bios updates available for the system?

Can you try the device on another system?

Hi
I had this same problem in vista 64. The software would load but it would not install the drivers. I made it work by going to device manager opening the pproperties sheet for trackir clicking on update drivers. You have to point it at the drivers folder for trackir and it will load the drivers. All fixed

Hello,

I have now tried the TrackIR on a laptop running XP Pro x86.
It was detected as "unrecognised device" also. I used the original driver CD that shipped with the product. It would not use the driver. The little red standby LED is all that shows on the device.

What now?

Please send the following info to support@naturalpoint.com

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.

Could you send us a copy of the Setupapi.log file?
It should be located in the C:\Windows folder

Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Could you attach a screen shot of your Device Manager (showing USB), and tracking screen (TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking)?

To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.

Windows Help: Print Screen

To do this, follow this procedure:

1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

Hello,

Sent all the above details via E-mail.
Tried the procedure attached to the reply with the NPREG fix file which did not find a device to remove even though it was plugged in at the time and the red standby light illuminated.

The procedure seemed to be for an XP system, but I am running Vista x64 and had to change all the listed folder paths etc.

It resulted in the same "Device Not Recognized" baloon on completion.

I also had to remove the driver fairly quickly afterwards as it is not Windows Certified.

Can you supply additional instructions and a Certified driver for Vista x64.

Thanks.
