I've been doing some captures with my 8 camera setup, so far so good with that. The question is if I have to act out the character's proportions as I'm doing the capture?, say my character has a huge belly and I want to walk with the hands on the waist, do I have to walk with my hands where the waist should be or can I just walk with my hands on my waist and then let my 3D modeling / animation app (3D studio, Maya, Motion builder) handle those proportions? Can these software packages do such thing? can Arena do it?
Sorry if this is a very stupid question, Like I said I'm new to this...
new to mocap, potential stupid question...
Re: new to mocap, potential stupid question...
It would be best to place the hands where you think the belly would be. That way, when you import the data, and apply it to the large belly model the data points won't try to go thru the model belly
Re: new to mocap, potential stupid question...
I see, so if I want to create animations for multiple character proportions I have to make a capture for each character?

You will have a certain amount of editing to do in your 3d apps regardless on how you capture. The easiest (for me at least, I don't know about anyone else) is to capture based upon your own body, then adjust accordingly in your app. In 3ds max for example, it is really easy to add a layer, turn on autokeying then adjust your shoulders/clavicles to how you want them on the first frame... then it will stay that way throughout the animation.
