Good day, I have similar problem to "LED light won't stay on". New TrackIR 4 _Pro with TrackClipPro. The unit has worked intermittently which makes identfying problem confusing. On starting up computer, then program it will occasionally work, light comes on, tracks well etc. Next session after turning on computer & starting program up, TrackIR will come on, "LED on" for a brief second, actually tracks for a sec and then reports No Data - then will stay no functional.
I have updated the driver, re-installed about 200 times, various USB ports (uninstalled via windows, deleted files, deleted key in registry, rebooted re-installed rebooted, connected TrackIr) - About 20% of the time it will work and continue working for the entire game session. Next session -problems again. Checked that windows is'nt turning off the USB. Tried various combinations of settings, Dot instead of Trackclip pro- using reflectors, with & without Trueview - what ever is that? On ocassions it will trigger unit to work again. Even tried the older driver program that came with unit - this too has worked on occasions - unfortunatly nothing seems keep the unit working. Pressing F9 does turn unit of & on.
Also purchased powered usb Hub - no success.

Running windows XP profesional, on Intel Quad core 9350, Sapphire Raedon 3850 x2 graphics card. Joystick Saitek X52 Pro & pedals.
Serial number on Tag 0xxxxx
I would be very grateful for some assistance - its been a very frustrating experince.

Thanks for assistance Vincent, I tried this last night on two different systems, Laptop & another desktop. Both failed in the same way. I have done this before and it did operate for one session. So encouraged I concluded there was nothing wrong with the unit itself. Its the intermitancy that makes it difficult to ascertain whether a re-installation or changed setting has fixed the problem.
I guess this suggests the unit is faulty? Is it possible for electronics to behave in this way.
I found Error messages in the Xp event viewer administative tools in relation to TrackIR reporting that two files ezusb.sys and another (forgot name - Im at work) Anyway "googled up" two files named such and added them to Windows\Systems32\drivers and rebooted the computer.
Next error message didnt report their absence but reported that they couldnt be loaded or TrackIr was not plugged in.
I switched the plug to the powered hub - and guess what - it worked for the sesssion again 4hrs only to fail again on after rebooting?
Does Natural point offer counciling serves?

If it is happemning on a regaular basis, and across multiply systems, then I would tend to lean towards a hardware issue of some kind.

In Australia, 80kms south of Sydney. The TrackIr works so well, when it works...I am really stumped on this one. Did you recieve my email with the setupapi. log & screen captures. What is the significance of the TrackIr appearing under the Universal Serial Bus controllers or as a seperate listing as NaturalPoint?

well i had a simular problem
due to the grounding (protection)of the cable a resistor
got a shortage every now and then.I saw this to late so now
my track IR 4 pro is gone to heaven.
Why:the cable wasnt fixed well on the tracker, it was to loose.
it could move a bit while i rotated and tilled,and thats why the metal of the grounding
could hit the resistor.
IMO not well manufactured.(ive got a picture of it which explanes it alot better)

Good day DutchRanger, thanks for your response, your explanation seems to make sense..Sorry to hear about the death of your TrackIR Pro...I hope its not too late to save mine, would it be possible for you to send me a picture - perhaps a bit of surgery might save my patient (..thats if I have'nt dropped a brick on it before then

Are the units covered by some sort of warrentee against faulty construction...mine is practically new..and suffered from this problem on and off from almost day one...rarely been so #@%$% frustrated. My email adress is gis_aust@iinet.net.au

It shows what version of the drivers you are using.
If you purchased it locally, then I would suggest rteturning it to the place of purchase.
