Eyepoint problem FSX

Post by jnr641802 »

Hi I have Trackir 3 Vector expansion and in FS9 I assign a switch on my Ch Yoke to move eyepoint up/down/and keyboard for left/right,works great to get the view the way I like it.

I have just installed FSX and although the eyepoint assignments work fine in the virtual cockpit without Trackir, when using Trackir the eyepoint cannot be moved, when trying to move the eyepoint it just jumps and instantly returns to the default eyepoint view.

I have searched but cannot find an answer, any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, with the latest version of FS, the eyepoint can not be moved with the shortcut keys, when the TrackIR is running. As Microsoft assigned it as priority on the system, when simconnect is running, so it overrides the settings. You can adjust the cockpit eyepoint within each cfg file, for each aircraft, manually.

Some customers have been setting up predefined view points, that they can switch to easily.

Vincent I spoke too soon....I have only had a brief look at the workings of fsx and need some further advice if possible.

I tested the default fsx c172 which was offering co-pilot view and assumed that view would be available for other aircraft including addons, which I have discovered of course it isn't.Changing the eyepoint for up/down in each aircraft.cfg is easy enough, but how are other users adding a co-pilot view to aircraft/addon aircraft so that Trackir can be used from the right seat?

I apologise if this is not your area of expertise and you have been very helpful already.

Honestly, I just haven't had that much time to do any testing along those lines -

Jim
Its fairly easy to set up custom views in FSX.
If you have the Deluxe version of FSX the details are in the SDK that's on disc 1.

If you have trouble working it out PM me at the Sim Outhouse forum where I mostly hang out these days http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/index.php and I'll help you out more. If I have any particular plane that you want views for I'll see what I can rustle up.

Thank you for the advice.I didn't look at the SDK(probably wouldn't understand it anyway!) but instead copied/pasted the default C172 right seat camera view.cfg into the Bac 1-11.cfg folder and just tried adjusting the numbers starting with the xyz entry(xyz chosen by pure luck) and voila, a right seat view which works with Trackir. Will now attempt to find which right seat entry adjusts the view height and adjust accordingly.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
