Tracking - doesn't do as its told!

Post by wardp »

I am having a problem with my TrackIR4 and Track Clip Pro in that it doesn't follow my head movement. I have the same problem on both my computers- one XP and the other Vista 64.

The problem is that when I move my head to the right the In Game Head in the Heads View turns to the right but also downwards which means that in FSX I end up looking at the co-pilots feet.

When I turn my head to the left the In Game head starts to turn to the left then instantly flips forward and disappears from the screen. In FSX taht means I am look at my seat cushion instead of out of the window. If I monitor the Tracking screen and the three dots the flip forward happens when the lower dot moves under the upper two and forms a line.

Moving my head to look up or down appears normal on the Heads screen but in the Flight Sim it translates to moving your head up or down like standing or sitting down and not just looking up or down.

I have tried uninstalling and installing the latest drivers without success so I am begining to fear the worst.

Can anyone offer any help please.

When you use the TrackClip Pro, do you then go into the different profiles (Default, flight, etc.) and select the TrackClip Pro instead of Vector?

When looking at the tracking screen, what do you see here?

Are there only 3 green dots on the screen?

The TRackClip Pro is mounted to the left side of the headset, and the camera is moved to the left as well?

Yes TrackClip Pro is selected instead of Vector.

Looking at the tracking screen I see 3 green dots in a vertical line with the bottom one offset slightly to the left.

When I tried it yesterday evening I only had the three green dots but today it is much brighter and I get a vertical red blob on the right side of the screen, probably from the light from a mirror but it does not seem to affect operation of the system.

Camera is to the left roughly in line with my left ear!

Today I have noticed that the top dot on the screen keeps switching from green to red. I have also adjusted the smoothness to max, not something I'd wish to use but operation seems to be OK just veryt slow, perhaps a little more playing with the adjustments is required, I'll let you know the outcome.

Thanks for your help

If it is jumping from red to green, then it is tracking the other IR object.

The tracking screen, should only have the 3 green, from the clip, and no red.

Thanks for all your help, all is OK now.

As I had not used it for some months I cleaned the camera but not the LED's. I have since cleaned them and that has stopped the top one changing from green to red also changing the smoothness properties has removed the last bit of the erractic behavour.

Thanks
