large capture area

Post by s.chaplain »

Hello,

we purchased a 12 camera (flexV100) optitrack system. Today we are capturing in a small room (4*5meters 13*16foot), but for our need we plan to go on a wider area.

The capture surface would be in best case a 7*7m square(23*23ft), and so the camera position would be on a 14*14m square (46*46ft).

Do you think it is possible, or is it a bad idea? What kind of problems will we maybe face?

--I suppose we would have to turn up IR-illumination and to use quite big markers--.

Currently the maximum setup area is a little under 7m*7m; giving you a conservative tracking volume of 3.5m*3.5m. Any larger than that setup can have issues with the cameras loosing track of the markers in the tracking area, as well as being able to differentiate the markers from one another.
