'Center,' 'Pause,' or 'Precision' HotKeys No Work

Post by WWNatops »

My TrackClip Pro works great! ... when I'm not in a game. [IL-2]

I checked IL-2's 'config.ini' file for 'TrackIRUse=1' and it is set properly. However, once in game, my HotKey will not center the TIR-4.

Originally, I selected F10, F11, & F12, but discovered that they had other functions in the game, so I selected 'scroll lock'[center], 'pause'[pause], & 'PrtScn'[precision]. The new HotKeys work great outside the game in the edit windows, but once inside the game, I can press 'scroll lock' all day with no effect. Could my problem be that 'trap' has trapped one [or more] of the three new HotKeys that the game needs and locked the HotKey function out??

Or the game simply doesnt recognize those keys. Try other keys.

No offense intended: But did you READ my original post? I have already tried changing HotKeys not used by the game to no effect.

The new HotKeys are recognized by the game because they are entered in the Control Manager and passed the 'download' test fine.

If you have any other idea of what could be the problem, I would sure appreciate it.

When you made the adjustments to the hotkeys, did you adjust them in the default profile (one that the software has loaded by default), or the Combat Flight profile, which loads for IL2?

What version of Windows are you using?

I adjusted the hotkeys in the Combat Flight Profile which loads for IL-2. I am using Vista Ultimate SP-2 [sorry I didn't mention this b4.]

I may have found the solution!! Evidently, Vista Ultimate is playing with the Administrator rights. I right clicked the TIR Icon and selected "Run as Administrator". That seems to have solved the problem of my selected "center" hotkey [ScrLK] working. However, after about half an hour, the hotkey [ScrLK] stops working, but I have no centering problem, so it's not needed.

I have no idea why this problem exists or what the actual fix could be.

Thanks, Vincent for replying to my request for help. However, I believe that the problem still exists and my gut tells me it is realted to Vista Ultimate. I never had this problem with XP Pro.

@ Vincent:

Vincent, selecting the TIR Program Icon and then selecting "Run as Administrator" is NOT working once I get inside the game, IL-2. I cannot get my selected HotKey [ScrLk] to work.

What happens is that I'm in the game looking anywhere, but straight ahead and I cannot center. TIR itself is working as I can look about the point that it is centered on...usually my 5:30 visual position in the cockpit. HELP!!!

OK, this is not a TIR problem. I just flew in a game in the HyperLobby [with same settings on my keyboard/stick] and the TIR Center HotKey worked with no problem. Somehow it is a problem with the game server, I believe.

@ Vincent:

I stumbled upon a solution to TIR problems experienced by Vista owners. Thought I'd pass this on to you for examination/application purposes:

So you setup IL2 to run as an admin?

Did you also set TrackIR to run as an admin?
