TrackIR axies seem to get stuck

Post by antw »

Hi,
I love my TrackIR4 Pro, but I do find that if I look too far down and to the left, a few of the axies get stuck, and the TrackIR does not respond properly. Suddenly, I'm stuck looking at the floor or the seat (eg in MS Flight Sim X). The problem is not MSFSX though, because I see the same thing happening in the TrackIR software itself - if I click on View > Heads, then look down and to the left, the heads go crazy. If I then click on View > Gauges, I can see that the Pitch, Y and Z axies all seem to be stuck. This is easily solved by either tilting my head right back, or by pressing F12 to centre everything. But it's a pain when it happens within a game. I have updated the software - by clicking on Update > Check for software updates, but it tells me the software is up to date. Is there anything else you can suggest?
Thanks v much.

There are limits to the angle at which the sensor sees your reflectors/diodes. You must configure how far your view travels when moving your head.

Thanks for your reply. I do realise there are limits to the angle at which the sensor sees the reflectors, but what seems to happen is that if some of these limits are momentarily exceeded, the view gets stuck and will not return to normal even when I am physically looking straight ahead. This happens quite a lot and I have to press F12 to recenter the view, which seems to free up the axies which have got stuck. Is this normal? I don't think it's to do with configuring my hardware. When I look at the View > Tracking screen in the TrackIR software, I see the three reflectors correctly placed on the screen, mimicking my head movements, but the axies remain stuck until I press F12.

It is something that is being looked into.

Any further news on this? I've just bought and installed Trackir pro with the trackclip pro and am experiencing the same problems.

I usually roll my head in a big circle, somehow the sensor catches my reflectors again, and view returns to normal, otherwise Im also stuck with the F12 button (and currently thinking of mapping F12 to a button on my controls.

I believe that some profiles are worse than others. For example I downloaded the IL2 profile and I had less problems with this than the original default profiles. Problem still exists though :(

Just in case you need the info:

TrackIR Pro xxxxx, TrackClip Pro, Software Ver 4.1036

Eventually try to revert to previous software version. Im using 4.1 build 34, with no problems (other than foreseeable phenomenon described above).

Anything new here?

I'm also getting a stuck Pitch (far right) on the gauge. I can edit the profile to take out the extremes and it still gets stuck.

Real bummer since it makes Black Shark real erratic.

The sensor is not losing track at the extremes - it seems to be a software bug with latest download.
