First of all I'm having so many problems with this device that I don't even want to TRY to fix it. But here goes anyway.
I ordered TIR4 Pro in early Fall and use it a lot with IL2 Sturmovik and Flgiht Simulator X. When using FSX TIR seems to work for only about 30-45 minutes, then just stops working and I have to use joystick inputs to move my view around. In fact, I can't even open the TrackIR program to close it down! Not even through task manager can I end the process. I have to restart my computer and even then I get the BSOD. Even when I disconnect the USB. I tried disabling my antivirus/firewall/spyware software, disconnecting internet... everything I could think of.
That little problem I've just put up with. But after not using it for a month (because I didn't want to deal with that stupid problem, since there seems to be nothing in your so called, "trouble shooting" section about it.) but now when I use my TIR the pitch movement seems to be completely dysfunctional and movement in any other direction is very jerky. Meanwhile FSX is running at 25 FPS. It senses me looking down, slightly, but as soon as I begin to move my head back up, the motion freezes. I have to place my head back at "center" wait a moment, then it will finally catch up. I can look left and right again, but as soon as my head tilts up, the motion stops. Even moving in the X and Y axis makes things stop. And I KNOW I'm within the FOV of the unit, becuase it's where I used it before things went completely T.U. and double checked using the Tracking window. All motion is still jerky regardless of "smoothness" setting and profile modifications.
I opened the TrackIR software to take a look at the "heads" and "tracking" windows to see if anything was obstructing the reflectors. Not so! As soon as the heads would stop moving, you could still CLEARLY see all three reflectors at the center of the screen. I tried turning all of the lgihts off in the room, moving closer and further from the sensor, and even cleaning off the reflectors and sensor. Still no luck. When using Dot mode, the movement was great. But as soon as I changed to vector, the movement was all jerky again. I upgraded the software, tried EVERY different profile, and went through nearly every option for the last TWO hours without ANY progress and only a half dozen blue screens of death.
I really love the concept of this hardware, but frankly, it isn't worth the electrons used to power it, much less any form of currency. Right now I'm so frustrated I just want to burn the thing.
P.S. your support request form on the main site doesn't work, other wise I would not have made this extremely frustrated issue public.
Happy 105th anniversary of powered flight!
I don't know where to begin
Re: I don't know where to begin
When looking at the tracking screen, do you see 3 green dots, any red?
Have you addjusted the smoothing slider in any of the profiles?
Could you have pressed the precision mode hotkey (F7/F8)?
Are you connected directly to the PC, or using a hub?
Are you using the metal clip, or the TrackClip Pro?
Are the 3 green IR points centered?
How far away from the camera are you located?

3 green dots
I have adjusted the smoothing slider which did not affect the problem
I hit the precision mode keys multiple times to see if that fixed it, and it did not.
Directly connected to my PC (tried the hub, still no change)
metal clip
the 3 green points are centered
I'm about 2-4 feet from the camera

Re: I don't know where to begin
Vector clip selected in the different gaming profiles?
What version of Windows are you running?
Any add-ons installed for FSX?
Looking at the heads window, does the heads move smoothly within the TrackIR software itself?

Re: I don't know where to begin
Yup, Vector Clip is selected
Windows Vista Home
Several addons for FSX, but problem persists in all other programs as well. I haven't installed any new addons since before this problem.
the heads move smoothly in yaw, roll, x, and y, but pitch is extremely glitchy. All three points show up as green even when the heads stop moving. I can pitch my head down, but as soon as I begin to lift it, the heads stop moving until I move any of the other axis.

Hi!
I dont know if I can help you, but I will try. I have had my TrackIR now for nearly a year and I had this freezing probs in the beginning, but havent had it for more than 9 months. I use TrackIR with every flight and im very very happy with it.
I did this:
d/loaded the profile"Optimized Flight" and did some small correction to it. I used PAUSE by pressing my scroll on my mouse. I used TAB for centering it. I have ActiveCamera and use the scroll on the mouse for zooming in and out.
Usually when Ive zoomed by scrolling, I press the scroll button to pause and then I press/ turn the desired knob in the Cockpit.
As I said, dont know if this will help, it could be a collision with another driver or software maybe.
For me I must say: [color:#CC0000]Couldnt be without TrackIR [/color]since I always fly in VC.
Ps. I also use the clips Ds.
Happy New Year, to all of you!
