BVH Vs. C3D Format

Post by Gnad »

Hi,

Currently I'm working on the bachelor thesis about Motion Capturing.
We use the Optitrack system in combination with Motionbuilder and Maya.

I'D like to know what are the advantages or disadvantages of using the bvh or c3d Format.

I think using the bvh format is very comfortable because you dont have to use an Actor in Motionbuilder to map the marker points to the body.

So why and when should one use the c3d format instead of the bvh format for animating characters???

thanks in advance

Not all applications have support for .bvh files, so .c3d allows for greater flexibility in getting the data into 3D rendering packages.

Thanks,

So for our Pipeline "Arena -> MotionBuilder -> Maya" There is no reason or situation to use the c3d format right?

In that setup, I would say no.
