stream form Arena to Motion Builder over internet

Post by grupamy »

Hello there,

I was trying to stream live data from Arena to MB over internet. There was a connection between the two programs but opticals didn't move. When I'm making live streaming over LAN to MB everything is working. Is there a problem with the plugin? Or I'm making something wrong? Thanks

I think there are three types of problems that may prevent you from streaming over the internet. The first problem is firewalls that may be on the way (ISP firewalls not necessarily on your computer). The second problem is the data loss, the link between ARENA and motion builder may be using UDP (i'm not sure about that) if that's the case, then many packets could be lost over the internet. The third problem is the data delivery latency which is much longer than the latency on the LAN.
I suggest using a VPN in order to tunnel through possible firewalls and make the connection more reliable and prevent UDP packets from being lost. You may use Hamachi or OpenVPN to build the VPN connection. The VPN can solve first two problems but cannot solve the latency problem, but at least if it still does not work you will know for sure that the probelm is with the latency.

Good luck.

Hello,

NatNet does not currently support streaming over the internet. It may be possible to achieve directly over the internet or by using a VPN tunnel as HUsam mentions, but is likely to be challenging.
