TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
Hi:
I have TrackIR 5 w/Track Pro; version 5 beta 4.0. I tried using Version 4.1.037 - Final but could not get the visual calibration display. I can get the device to work in Falcon 4.0 aka FreeFalcon 5.0 but am unable to get it to work in MS Flight Sim 2004.
I have all lights on when FS9 loads.
I have clicked Views> Virtual Cockpit to anble the VC.
I disabled head latency in Active Camera.
But am still unable to get this device to work at all.
Is there anything in the FS9.cfg I need to change or look for?
Any and all suggestions would be greatle appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
It works fine for me in FS 2004. I didnt have to do anything special to get it to work. I am running the latest Track IR beta software.
Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
Make sure you have the standard language.dll installed with FS2004. Some custom versions of the DLL remove strings required by TrackIR.
Ensure that the notification messages in FS2004 are turned on. The notifications appear in the upper right corner in red when switching to the virtual cockpit. The setting is found in your fs9.cfg file located by default in:
c:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
[Main]
HideInfoText=0

Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
Vincent,
I have the same problem. Just bought a new computer within last two weeks. Installed FS9 & FSX. I DO have active camera, but followed the instruction per previous threads. I have TrackIR5 with the standard baseball cap clip. I installed the latest driver from the website (Version 5). FS9 & FSX have their respective patches installed (I'm running on XP home 32bit).
Alone, the software runs fine. Per your recommendation above, I'm in VC mode, edited the FS9 & FSX config files, verified that language.dll is in the main folder of FS9. On thing I saw in a previous thread on the topic was that Trackir.dll needed to be located in the FS9/X Modules folder. I've scanned the system for this file and can't find it anywhere.
Just looking through the thread, I see a lot of issues surrounding Trackir5 for FS support; what gives? I have the old Trackir3 sitting in the closet and it worked fine. If there isn't a cookbook method for getting this thing to work then its going back. Can you give me some suggestions?
Thanks,
Howard

Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
By the way, I downloaded and installed the the ship simulator demo and it didn't work with that program either. During the install is there something in the process in which I need to specify the programs I will be using it with? Did I miss something during the install?
Thanks again,
Howard

Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
Okay. One last post, I got it now! I have three versions of FS installed on my system (fs2k2, fs2k4 & fsx). During the previous install, the installer defaulted to the fs2k2 location for the executable. The Track-ir.dll is in this folder and NOT in the others. So copying the DLL manually (the modules folder for fs2k4 and main for fsx) solved the problem.
If the question goes unanswered long enough, then eventually the answer will be found (admittedly it wasn't that long)!
Is it worth noting in the documentation that if one has multiple version of FS to make sure that this DLL is copied into each adjacent folder? Did I miss that in the installer?

Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
Actually that dll file only works for FS2002, it does nothing in regards to FS9, or FSX.
As they each use a totally different interface for working with the TrackIR software/hardware.

Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
Vincent,
Since FS2002 only supports 2 DOF and I am running FS2k4 & FSX, how do I get the profile to change from FS2002 to say FS2004 so that I can pick up the extra DOF's?
Thanks,
Howard

I have a TrackIR 3 running with 4.1.037 Final.B drivers and FS9 wont track without the trackir-2002.dll being present in the modules folder. Despite the blue enhanced light being active the TrackIR will not track at all in FS9 without this file being present.
When I copy the trackir-2002.dll into the Modules folder the unit tracks perfectly in FS9. The only downside to this is you get an error message as FS9 loads to say that an old module is trying to load. If you say yes to continue to load, the tracker seems to run perfectly. A workaround to the error message is to inclede the file name in the [OldModules] section of the FS9.cfg file and the error message doesn't show again and the tracker works perfectly.

Re: TIR5 doesn't work in FS9
Do you have the standard language.dll installed?
Any other add-ons installed fs9?
If the blue LED is coming on (TrackIR 4) then it is detecting the game, and something within FS9 is stopping it from working.
