TrackIR 5 Getting Left Green Light Only

I'm using TrackIR 5, software 5.0.300 (6225), Windows XP SP3. I had no problems using it the first two times, first with FSX without running Active Sky X, the second time with ASX, and now this third time I'm using Track IR 5, I'm only getting a left green light on the device (looking head on), no right green light, and the tracking is all over the place. I thought this was a problem with FSX/ASX, but I'm not even running those programs and I'm getting this problem. I didn't install anything new since installing Track IR. I've tried reinstalling the software (both Track IR 5 and 4) with similar problems. Actually, in the Track IR 4 software, I get both green lights, but it comes in and out (Status says "No Data"). Please help!

Let me change that - I get a flickering left green light, the tracking is all over the place, and the right green light is off.

IF you are using Saitek SST software,try switching it off, then back on again Mine would not work at all:(

No, not using Saitek SST software. I'm mad because it worked fine the two prior times I used it, and I did nothing differently!

OK a couple of things.......

1 - Are you using the TrackClip, or TrackClip pro?

2 - Within the TrackIR 5 software, and looking at the camera window (left hand side of the software) it will show you the camera's view. Do you 3 green objects, and red?

3 - Are the 3 green objects centered in the camera view?

4 - If FSX (gaming application) is not running, then the green light on the right will not be active.

Thanks for the reply. TO give you an update, it's working now...but it's still weird. I'm using the track clip that I attach to my baseball hat that came with the unit. I can't remember questions 2 and 3 when it was screwing up.

The weird thing is that now when I run FSX/ASX, the Track IR tab disappears from the Taskbar completely. I can't even switch to it using ALT-TAB. But it's still running the in background anyway, while FSX/ASX are still working. It's working within FSX. So weird.

It is minimized to the system tray (by the clock on the taskbar), when a gaming application starts to save on system resources.

Some more updates for you...

Just upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Also using ASX, FSX. Using TrackIR 5 build 6225.

It's worked several times, but on occasion, the Track IR camera will pick up a red dot within the field of view. It'll see the three green dots from the Track Clip as well, track, but be very unstable if it detects this rouge red dot (which is fixed in the field of view). I've taken the Track Clip off of my hat, thinking there may be something else reflective, and it still does this.

After waiting a while, the red dot goes away, it picks up the three green dots, and tracks perfectly.

Any idea why it would be doing this?

The stray red dot could be several thing. lamp on, reflected light off a mirror, sunlight in a window.

Determining where the extra IR light is coming from, and eliminating it will help out greatly.

This was my problem all along! There was sunlight coming into my room and must have been reflecting off of something shiny behind me (I still haven't been able to figure from what), and producing this phantom red dot in front of the camera. Everything would mess up. Works great - using Windows 7 64 bit, FSX, ASX. No problems! Thanks for the help.
