Vista issue, please help

Post by thnewton »

Hi,

Wonderful product (smartnav at). I use a regular mouse and my finger to click, but can't move my hand so exclusively use the smartnav to move the cursor.

Till now I have used it on an XP machine. Today, I'm trying to set up a Vista machine to use. No problem with install, and tracing at all. But I'm alarmed Vista's tendency to block smartnav mouse movement when installing other software, certain dialogs, etc... I get stranded, not able to physically move the mouse to say "allow" etc.

Is there a way to assure I can always have cursor control in Vista?

I see that disabling user account control helps somewhat, but is it really impossible to retain cursor control always?

Currently no, as Vista sets the interface, outside of the normal Window permission levels, and disables most devices.

That's not what I wanted to hear, Vincent, but thanks. Do you see improvements in accessibility with Windows 7?

The UAC is not as pronouced within Windows 7, if you are logged in as an admin.

So if you're logged in as an admin in Windows 7, are there times when the SmartNav will not function? This is a critical consideration, because I am planning to upgrade from XP.

I haven't had any issues within Windows 7, in the testing I have done.
