Windows 7 Pro 64 bit/TrackIR 4 Pro unusable

Post by cds1 »

I just installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on my game machine. On this same machine, with XP 32 bit, TrackIR worked flawlessy. Since upgrading, both the 4 & 5 versions of the software are unusable. The motion is VERY jumpy, and erratic. I'm using the final (RTM) build of Windows 7. I keep seeing that Windows 7 is supported, so where do I go from here?

Are you using the TrackClip, or TrackClip Pro?

Within the TrackIR 5 software, if you look at the camera screen (right hand side of the software) what do you see here? Any red, or just 3 green?

Is the green points centered?

TrackClip Pro.

I only see the 3 green points, and they are centered. The motion of the heads doesn't seem to correspond to the motion of the points. e.g. the points follow the proper path (match head movement). The effect against the view/head seems way off, in all 3 dimensions.

Another oddity is that after exiting (not minimizing) TrackIR, the process continues to run. I have to manually terminate the process from task manager.

Do you have TrackClip Pro, or TrackClip selected in the software (TrackIR 5 software)?

I would just like to add my observations since I recently installed Windows 7 but unfortunately, mine is the release candidate version. I don't have access to the RTM version so I'm not sure what is different. However, I installed the latest software for my Track IR 4 with vector support and noticed Track Ir is very jumpy. I have verified that I have three green lights with no background lights interfering and I also have the TrackClip selected in the interface. While watching the head track movements on the Track Ir interface I noticed that the movement was jumpy on the "X" and "Y" axis. The target point would move smoothly then jump, smoothen, then jump, etc. I verified my settings on my XP install and using the same settings, the target movement was very smooth on all axis'. I have installed Microsoft's FSX on my Windows 7 install and noticed that the Track Ir movement is very jumpy and it is difficult to use. Thanks.

TrackClip. I tried TrackClipPRO, but nothing happens.

What are your speed settings set to?

What do you have the smoothing option set to?

What profile are you using?

Everything is default. I've tried adjust speed/smoothness, but there was not much of an effect. I've also ran TrackIR5.exe in a couple different compatibility modes: Vista SP2 & XP SP3. Neither mode had an effect.

So you see the 3 green, in a triangle shape (single marker on top), on the camera window, and have TrackClip selected in the software, none of the axes are set to invert?
