using trackir 5 in games

Post by Smekke »

Hi,
i'm new and just received my new shiny trackir5.
First of all, can you use the trackir 5 also for controlling a airplane in flightsims, to fly with the trackir5?
If so, how???

The TrackIR is designed to control the view itself, and isn't designed to control the aircraft itself.

I too am new to TR5 and am puzzled as to the use of the F9 to F12 keys. With FS X they provide useful alternative views but clash with TR5 as the F9 disenables the latter...as you know. How do I get to use both satisfactorily again?

But wait...surely all I have to do is reconfigure/reassign the F keys, don't I?

You can map the recenter/pause hotkeys within the TrackIR software. I would recommend mapping those controls to features that aren't currently assigned to something else in FSX. I typically use one of the buttons on my joystick, or occasionally the Pause/Break button (for pause at least) on my keyboard. You could also use an additional key modifier to differentiate (like Shift+F9 or Shift+F12).

Many thanks for that, Seth. Onward and upward.
