Support for Future Pinball?
Re: Support for Future Pinball?
Just got my TIR4 and having a good time trying it with all my supported software and available downloadable demo's.
So far, everything I've tried works great. I'm very impressed.
Except for Future Pinball. This looks like something that would really be enhanced by TrackIR, but I cannot get the head tracking to work smoothly.
I have the latest TrackIr software, am now pretty familiar with its use, and checked all the appropriate boxes in the Future Pinball setup as described in this thread, but although the display responds in a gross, sporadic sort of way to my head movement, I can't get it smooth enough to be useful.
I know NaturalPoint aren't necessarily experts on the Future Pinball software, but wonder if anyone else listening in has had the problem and solved it.
I must admit, I haven't explored the Future Pinball software very much, simply downloaded the progam as well as the "sci-fi" demo table, and used the "Launch Table" facility. The table works great and all controls work, it just doesn't respond smoothly to head movements.
Thanks in advance for any comments,
Mike

Re: Support for Future Pinball?
So it has 5DOF working, but it is a little erratic?
When looking at the tracking screen, how many green icons are on the screen?
Any other artifacts on the tracking screen?

Re: Support for Future Pinball?
Yes, but it's more than a "little" erratic. There are big jumps from one view to the next that don't even seem to consistently follow the appropriate axis. The sense one gets is kind of like it was a 2D (rather than 3D) cockpit in a flight sim, for ex.
The NaturalPoint setup for this "default" profile seems fine. There are three clean dots on the tracking screen with no artifacts, and the test heads move appropriately. Frankly, my guess is that the TrackIr is working fine, but perhaps there is an obscure option in Future Pinball that I haven't yet found, or perhaps the profile response curves are REALLY critical in this application.
Maybe I'll try to dig up another demo table and see if it works any better....

Re: Support for Future Pinball?
Try adjusting the smoothing, as well, as this can cause it to jump erratically.
