FS2004 vs FSX in Windows 7

Why will TrackIR5 not run on Vista or Windows 7 for FS 2004. I can run TrackIR5 for FS2004 as well as FSX on my old XP machine with no probs. I've tried all the usual FS9.cfg/language.dll tricks posted on this forum but with no luck. I'm running an Intel core 2 Quad Q9450 with 4GB of RAM and 2 x nVidia 9800 GT's running in SLI mode and (now) Windows 7 Ultimate, which is much better than that Vista crap, I can tell you.
It runs on FSX on this config with no problems.

Try running both applications as an admin (right click on the exe for each, and select run as admin)

Yep, that works. I tried this in Vista and it didn't work for some reason, so never gave it a thought in Windows 7.
