camera not turning on?
I recently re-installed my machine, upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate.
I installed the latest TrackIR 5 software today and when finished with the install, plugged the camera into a USB port on the back of the computer.
Windows 7 detected it and setup the driver for it. I checked device manager and it said the device is working and the "check for new driver version" yielded no newer driver.
When I run the TrackIR software, the camera IR lights do not turn on. Normally you can see the red lights behind the black camera cover. Also neither status light turns on.

Re: camera not turning on?
The Track IR software sees the device (It shows Device: TrackIR 5 #xxxxxx). And the tracking target is set to "TrackClip" which is what I'm using.
I also changed the TrackIR SW shortcut so it runs as admin, but that didn't help.
No red camera lights, no status lights.
Any idea what's going on?

Another note, in the TrackIR SW, at the bottom right of the window the left-most status indicator is green and the mouse-over tooltip says "Camera Detected and Connected". The other 2 lights are no lit.
Also in the Camera tab the stauts lights are set to enabled.

and to state the obvious, there is no tracking occurring in the TrackIR SW.

Have you tried moving USB ports, or on another PC?
Does the device work, if using the 4.1.037 software?

Re: camera not turning on?
I tried plugging it into a different USB port and then it worked! Note that I swapped the TrackIR camera and another device (a WolfKing side keyboard). The WolfKing is working fine in the USB port where the TrackIR camera was not. So I'm not sure what was going on there, but it seems to work fine now.

Re: camera not turning on?
This is happening again. It was just working fine the other day and now the camera refuses to turn on.
I've tried multiple USB ports which I verifie work with other devices.
On the status bar at the bottom right of the TrackIR 5 SW, I have 1 green light which indicates "Camera Detected and Connected". Camera LED lights are enabled.
But both the left and right lights are unlit and its not tracking.
What would cause the TrackIR 5 SW to indicate its connected to the camera and yet the camera green light doesn't come on and it won't track?

Re: camera not turning on?
Are you using the TrackClip, or the TrackClip Pro?
The green LEd on the left, indicates that it is tracking the IR points, the one onthe right indicates it detects a gaming application.

Re: camera not turning on?
I'm using TrackClip on a baseball cap.
I think I figured out a workaround on my desktop machine. Whenever this symptom occurs (camera lights do not come on, even though the software indicates it sees the device and no tracking), I do the following procedure.
1) unplug TIR
2) uninstall TIR SW
3) reboot
4) install TIR SW without TIR plugged in
5) plug in TIR, let it install the driver
6) run TIR SW
The above steps clear it up and it goes back to working. I have to do this occasionally both when booted into XP 32 and Win7 32.

Re: camera not turning on?
I just tried to install on a Dell laptop running Win7 64 bit, though, and am having trouble. I installed the SW, plugged in the TIR, it installed the driver. I then ran the TIR SW (as admin, even though UAC is disabled), and I see the same symptom. TIR SW says it sees the camera, but no lights.
By no lights I mean no red LEDs in the middle of the camera. They're cofigured to be on and when its working they are on and visible.
