Re: Cameras switch off randomly
Vincent,
Okay...
Installed an additional USB 2.0 card -- no success (2 or more camera still stop working in the middle/beginning of a capture)
I'm using 8 of the V100
My USB hubs are D-Link brands
I have used several previous builds of Arena. I never used to have this problem. I've thought about going back to them, but I'd have a hard time giving up the FBX export.
Thoughts?

And the power supply, for the hub?

Re: Cameras switch off randomly
Well, it does seem like it's software related (beta, that is).
When I go back and use the Arena 1.4 software I get no camera dropping what so ever. I just had a nice capture session and it worked perfectly!
Now, if only we can get the beta working better WITH the powerful FBX export we'll be cooking with gas!
Any way to install both versions of Arena on the same computer? 1.4 to capture and 1.5beta to export?
I tried creating a new user (in vista, 32 bit) but that didn't seem to work.
Thanks for all the help, NaturalPoint!

Re: Cameras switch off randomly
You can just rename the 1.4 folder, before installing the 1.5 to have both installed at the same time.
Not sure that the project files will be compatible between the 2 versions.

Re: Cameras switch off randomly
I am having similar problems. I am using Windows XP professional, SP2.
The device manager lists only 1 Enhanced Host controller.
Software using : Optitrack Arena Motion Capture version 1.5
Based on the instructions in the thread, I turned off the power saving modes of the hubs. Just to experiment, I have tried connecting 1 to 9 V100R2 Flex cameras (with Optisync on 2 OptiHubs). I have almost no guaranteed performance, even the camera is sometimes not detected by the software.
In all cases, the Device manager lists the camera. Right now, the blue led on the Optihub is not blinking. A few tries previously, the blue led was working however, the camera recognition or synchronization was sporadic.

What are your system specifications?
Laptop/desktop?
Do have access to/and have you tried using the 1.6 Arena software?

We have a Dell Precision 380 desktop at the lab. I have not tried using Arena 1.6. I will install it and see if it works.
The desktop specs are:
Intel Core 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.4Ghz.
1 GB Ram

Re: Cameras switch off randomly
I just tried using Arena 1.6 with 2 cameras. The Device Manager lists the cameras under NaturalPoint Devices, but the Arena does not detect it.
Restarting Arena, 1 camera was detected. So I tried restarting it once more - now both cameras are detected, but 1 has a label "Camera 0" while the other is "Camera 2".

What is the driver version, that is being installed, for the OptiHub, and R2 cameras?
You may need to right click on each camera in the device manager, select properties, then check the driver version.
