Suggestion

Post by Megalodon »

I've been checking back now and then to see what sort of support/tutorials there are for Arena Expression. And surprisingly there are virtually none. Your tutorial series on setting up Arena MoCap with the Optitrack cameras was excellent and did an outstanding job of showing how to implement the basic setup and get everthing up and running. After much trial and error I was able to get everything working with Arena MoCap, Motion Builder and Lightwave. Getting custom mocap into Lightwave is now relatively easy.

However... it's not quite the same with Arena Expression. IMO, I think you would sell quite a few more if there were separate tutorials on how to get facial capture from Expression to Motion Builder and to Face Robot. As an example, if I could easily get your sample files into Motion Builder, attach it to a character and export it to Lightwave, I would purchase Arena Expression tomorrow. I have downloaded the samples and tried to make this work MANY times and it is entirely too frustrating - enough so that I am prepared to hand-animate through another program all of our facial animation.

While I'm sure you are most likely not experts in these other programs - Motion Builder and Face Robot - it might be a good idea to hire someone to create tutorials to make this work as painlessly as possible. And of course the sooner the better.

Anyway... just a suggestion... ;)

Expression now includes a MotionBuilder tutorial project and video showing how to quickly stream data onto a bone based rig in MotionBuilder:
