OptiHub and 2 OptiTrack V100 R2 : not working !

Hello,

For a research project, I would like to use 1 OptiHub and 2 OptiTrack V100 R2. To setup my configuration, I've used the following schematic : http://media.naturalpoint.com/optitrack/OptiHub_R2.pdf, which describes OptiHub Setup with 18 v100 R2 Cameras.
In fact, now I have the following configuration :

• each camera is linked to OptiHub by a USB cable
• OptiHub is linked to a USB port on the back of my PC
• I don't use any Sync output of OptiHub

All the devices have been succesfully installed on my PC. Now, I'm trying to get it work with the sample application for VC++ available here : http://media.naturalpoint.com/software/ ... 8b_v31.zip

But the dialog window doesn't appear when I'm executing the program. On each camera, one LED is always ON. I precise that I've tested this sample application with only 1 camera, and it worked perfectly.
Furthermore, the other sample applications (C++ and .NET) doesn't work either with my configuration.

Did I forget anything during the setup of my system ?

Which version of the OptiTrack SDK do you have installed, and what operating system are you using?

We tested a Release build of the sample here with the same configuration and the latest version of the OptiTrack SDK and it appears to be working normally.

I'm currently using the configuration I've detailed in my previous post under Windows XP SP3. I'm also using OptiTrack SDK 1.3.037.beta.01, because I had a problem using the latest release with 1 camera (the sample application named "Optitrack_Win32Sample_v2" didn't work for me).

OK, now it's working. I've uninstalled OptiTrack SDK 1.3.037.beta.01, and installed 1.3.037 (the latest release). When I execute the sample called "OptiTrack_sample_VC8b_v31", I can see in the list my 2 cameras and my hub. But when I click on "Multi" button, the application always crashes.

However, when I click on "Open" for each camera, it works and I can see a same tracked object on the 2 cameras at the same time. So is there any error in the source code of the sample ?

You are correct, the "Multi" button in the sample will not work with V100/V100R2 cameras. We will update the sample to reflect this.

I've one another question about the configuration I'm testing. I've tested the sample application "OptiTrack_sample_VC8b_v31" in two different ways :

• with 2 cameras connected to the hub
• with 2 cameras not connected to the hub, but directly connected to a USB port

I didn't see any difference, it seems that the cameras are synchronized with the 2 methods. So what the interest of OptiHub in that case ?

With the SDK, you need to use the Wired Sync, as the sync over USB(optisync) is not currently supported with the OptiHub, and the SDK.

Will the OptiSync be supported on the next release of the SDK ?

Because according to the FAQ entry 2-14, I see that OptiSync is theoretically supported by OptiHub using V100R2 cameras... And that's what I'm using (1 OptiHub and 2 V100R2 cameras).

Can you enlighten me on that point ?

At this time we don't have support for the enhanced features of the OptiHub when using the OptiTrack SDK on our roadmap. If that is a feature you are interested in then we'll take that into consideration when reviewing future work on the OptiTrack SDK, however there is not a guarantee that it will be implemented.


FAQ entry 2-14 only refers to which combination of camera models can be used with the OptiHub, it does not cover software compatibility.

The following note is present at the top of the the OptiTrack SDK product page :

Ok, I didn't paid attention to the note indicating that OptiHub was not supported yet by the SDK.

So I'll wait for the next release of the SDK, hoping that OptiSync feature will be handled.
