Look down, view freaks out

Post by myfingid »

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this. I'm using the hat clip and when I center my TrackIR I center the 3 dots to the sensor as close as I can. There is no external light (no other dots) This happens in the TrackIR software, DCS BlackShark, and RoF. When I look down, my view freaks out. I can get to about the 45 degree mark before my trackIR starts moving sideways. I can look further down, however it's moving back and forth sideways so quick that I can't see anything. Obviously this is a big problem in the games I play. In DCS I need to be able to look around the cockpit and hit buttons, and in RoF my compass is often down right beside my seat. So any tips or ideas that might help? It works fine looking up and sideways, though it does mess up on occasion. However this problem with looking down is a constant. Thank you.

Is the camera at the same height as the Clip?

Are the points being lost, when looking down?

Have you tried adjusting the speed setting, in the yaw axis?

The camera is a little higher than where I sit. All the points appear to be represented when this occurs. I found out I was having problems getting below 45 because I needed to restart the software, still have problems looking down but not as bad now. Any more hints or tips? I can look the full 90 degrees up, and other than the down direction everything else works like a dream.

Sorry I was going off of memory. I'm sitting at it now and the setup is lower than my head, I'd guess about 3 to 4 inches lower. When I plug in the camera (I unplug after every use, cat love cords) and start the program it sometimes only goes down to between 30-45 degrees, other times almost to 90 before it starts freaking out. Restarting does help, so if it originally only went so far, closing the app and restarting can fix it. Still when it comes to looking down, it will freak out on me. I don't get the same error when looking up, looking up will just keep going past 90 degrees. Usually when I look down and it's having problems between 30-45 degrees, it will go sideways (left usually) rather than down if I continue to look down. It moves with my head, so if I smoothly looked down, it would go to say 40 degrees, then start moving left as I continue to look down.

OK, I found the problem. You'll love this. I'm using an old Army cap because it's they're the only hats I have laying around (never a big hat guy) and I have no headphones to use the Pro Clip with. Anyways the brim of the cap points down when worn. It's pointing down to such a degree that I believe it's causing the problem. It's not that the green dots disappear when I look down, but they do get very small. When I took the hat clip off and pointed it as forwards as I could with my hand, I got full control, past 90 degrees down. I'm pretty sure this was the problem. Sorry to bug you but thanks for hearing me out lol.
