A strange thing has happened with my tracker five!
A strange thing has happened with my tracker five!
Due to some problems in FSX I had to removed programs, I reinstalled trackir 5 now I have some type of false control panel appearing on my desk top with out selecting it. There must be a file somewhere that did not get removed. When I removed the program I used the proper removal method. When I deselect it and select via the icon all is normal, however I must do the same routine each time, I turn up the computer. I have gone through files looking for something, however I am not a software person, so I really have no idea what I am looking for. I would appreciate any help. This is a Vista OS, and yes I installed it as admin.

False control panel?
Do you have the TrackIR software selected to run at startup, or have a sortcut placed in the startup folder for Windows?

Re: A strange thing has happened with my tracker five!
I have none of the boxes checked. As far as the start up folder, Im not smart enough on software to put shortcuts in start up folders, so if it is there I didn't do it intentionally, however I shall go look. I thank you for the quick response, I will report back on what I find.
Re: A strange thing has happened with my tracker five!
Well I spent an hour looking in hiddin hallways of Vista, and the only start up folder I found was empty. so if you could point me in a specific direction that would be helpful. When I start up the comp, and it goes through POST and then the desktop appears thats when the control panel pops up, and I might add this panel is not the one that has been selected for the game, its like one that you would get if you first loaded your software. If I deselect it and call up TrackIR5 via the icon then I get the one I have programed with my selections. And because I have to use Admin I have none of the boxes checked, and that applies to both control panels. I could take the software out again, however that will not help, its in there somewhere, and I am not that good a detective.

So is a version of the IR software control panel starting on bootup, similiar to the IR5 panel, just not with your specific settings?
Can you provide some screen shots?

Re: A strange thing has happened with my tracker five!
Yes! Just like I had selected it. The camera is on and if I put the clip in front, the left indicator comes on. I have not tryed it but if I select FSX, I'll bet it would work with the exception that the key selection (9-12) would not work for what they were intended, they would work as FSX key commands. AS I indicated, if I deselect that panel and select via the icon and in Admin, then every things works as advertised, and a great piece of equipment it is I might add.

Can you send in a screen shot, of the application options screen?
Re: A strange thing has happened with my tracker five!
I will be more than happy to do that as soon as I figure out how to do that, with this "VISTA" As I said I am not a software person.

To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.
Windows Help: Print Screen
To do this, follow this procedure:
1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

Re: A strange thing has happened with my tracker five!
Well I followed the instructions, put in paint changed it to jpg, selected copy, went to your reply page and paste was not available. I reviewed copy and paste instructions to see if there was something I was leaving out, I have used that procedure many times, but it doesn't seem to work for me in this case.I can assure you there are no check marks in the application options boxes, in the one that appears, or the one I would select normally.
