Track IR 5 stuttering and laggy movement
Re: Track IR 5 stuttering and laggy movement
Have you looked at updating the video card drivers?
Re: Track IR 5 stuttering and laggy movement
Same problem here...my view jumps crazy like using Win 7 64...state of the art system...
I wear reading glasses and think that has something to do with it
Please DO NOT respond by asking if I have the camera left of center, if I have disabled every other running app, if I have updated my software drivers etc...
The issue is Win 7 compatibility with TIR or like I mentioned above, and issue with using reading glasses
Not counting on a solution anytime soon based on length of this thread and the constant and repetitive talking points read back into it by Natural Point...

Are you serious? Please explain how TIR software is dependent on what video card driver a user has?
This is the silliest question ever regarding this issue and unfortunately has been asked far too many times already...
Based on this question the logical extension is that somehow someway TIR software versions are dovetailed in with ATI and NVidia production and development...
As an example my ATI driver is dated 3/22/2010...and your latest TIR release is dated 8/10/2009...
Stop asking us if we have updated our video drivers because your talking points script says to keep asking it...

Dear oneway,
This thread, has covered several topics, and several issues, in regards to the TrackIR software.
Certain question can be repeated as other users jump into the thread.
Some issues can be related to the software being used, and conflicts between the video card drivers (and the directx/opengl version they are using), the TrackIR software (depending on version Directx/openGL), and the gaming application, which may also be using directx/openGL

Are you seeing extra IR points (red), on the camera view, within the TrackIR software?
Are you using the TrackClip, or the TrackClip Pro?

That's fair.
But I, for one, have answered all those questions, changed my video drivers multiples times (the catalyst 9.12, then 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 and now 10.4), tried all the things suggested, and more (just read the thread again to see), with no results. What do I do now ?
Now, since we seem to be only a few people to have this problem with Win7, I wonder : what do we have, or don't have on our computers that's causing this problem ? Did I miss a windows update somewhere ? A directx, or OpenGL update, to install independently from my video drivers ? Or maybe a faulty, or missing video codec ? I don't know how the trackIR software is supposed to work, so I would really like some help from natural point.
I posted a screenshot before of what I was seeing in the software, I'll try a video, maybe that will help...
Here it is : the software in camera view, track IR active of course, and I'm not moving. The framerate goes crazy (in the upper right corner), and I get stutters in game if I play any game in those conditions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBiUYw2zjec

Re: Track IR 5 stuttering and laggy movement
what's that "blink" (the 3 green dots blink to black momentarily) you're getting at 3 seconds in?
It seems like something may be momentarily draining all desktop resources?
(slight thread hijack...
keep in mind, when using LCD screens, if the frame rate isn't at 60Hz, the ground textures will be a bit jerky. Its an inherent fault with LCD monitors... the same jerkyness can be seen on LCD televisions up to and including series 4)

Re: Track IR 5 stuttering and laggy movement
I don't know what that blink is exactly, but I see it from time to time when I'm using that view. It's not due to a program suddenly using ressources or anything like that. I tried disabling the "aero" thing in Win7 while running the software, but no change.
As for your second suggestion : the ground textures are just fine, the only problem is when I pan the view with the trackIR. It's simply not smooth ; but when I pan the view using other means, even with the track IR activated (with keyboards shortcuts that override the TIR) it's all smooth.
And it's not a screen problem either : I have a dual boot, and when I boot on XP instead of 7, I obviously don't change screens. (And I have no problems on XP).
To Natural Point : Can someone, anyone, talk to me ? The TIR software uses some "things" that are present on my computer. If I understand correctly, it uses OpenGL. Directx also ? What else, what could I look into ?
Is there something like a dxdiag that I could send your way ?

Re: Track IR 5 stuttering and laggy movement
Unfortunately we are starting to run out of ideas, as we have been unable to reproduce the issue here.
What other USB devices do you have attached to the PC?

Re: Track IR 5 stuttering and laggy movement
that's what I was getting at... the ground textures will stutter if the FPS isn't 60 with Vista/ Windows 7 running on an LCD monitor. For some reason FSX doesn't do Vsync (even if forced on the video card and FSX.cfg file.
something to try, which may or may not help, but could just remove one more item from the list; is to set the FSX root folder/ security/ user permissions to Full Control (taking note of course of the tick box settings first, in case of wishing to revert back)... do the same for the Naturalpoint Root Folder. Go then to (will need to be able to view Hidden Folders) the Virtual Store in the Users\ appdata\ local folder and pull out the Naturalpoint Folder found there onto the desktop and test FSX.
It may help to determine what IRQ's are being shared with the video card, if any, and which IRQ TIR is running on
Is SLI/ Crossfire part of the set up?
onboard sound?
system overclocked?
my machine runs TIR through a powered hub, on its own IRQ, with Windows 7 64bit, on a DX48BT2/ QX9650 and 4Gb RAM - all at stock speeds. affinity mask for FSX is set to run on cores 1;2;3 leaving core 0 for the Op Sys... FSX and TIR run @ Normal Priority and apart from the odd glitch somewhere between the chair and the keyboard, all seems to run well
