Hi all,
Has anyone a solution to a problem described below?
Using a TrackIR 3 Pro/TrackClip with a fresh install of software 4.1.037 Final B on a new computer (Win 7 Professional, 64 bit) The device is connected directly to a motherboard USB and also looks "ok" in the device manager (NaturalPoint Devices-> NaturalPoint TrackIR 3).
When I start the software the device never works. The status field just flickers between no data and tracking and in the tracking window I just have the window full of horizontal red and green lines. Does not matter if I restart the software. The only solution I have found is to close the software, unplug the USB connector and plug it in again. After that it works as it should and there is no problem if I turn off the software and restart it. But if I switch off the computer the problem comes back.
Using the same device on my old computer (Win XP sp3, 32 bit)and software 4.1.030-Final B is causing me no problem at all.
Anyone has a clue?
Thanks in advance for the answers.

TrackIr 3 Pro does not respong.
Re: TrackIr 3 Pro does not respong.
Are you connecting directly to the PC, or are you using a hub?
Re: TrackIr 3 Pro does not respong.
Directly to the PC. To one of the four standard USB 2.0 connectors on the motherboard(ASUS P6X58D-E).
Re: TrackIr 3 Pro does not respong.
Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?
Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.
Latest motherboard bios/chipset drivers installed for the PC?

Re: TrackIr 3 Pro does not respong.
Same here
Tir worked well on Win7-64 but today suddenly out of the blue it did not respond.
Nothing changed on my system. So I found this thread and did the unplug usb trick with succes.
After that I dl 4.1.037 software and installed that but the problem remains.
When starting tir, all goes as espected. After 2 to 3 seconds however the green light went out.
Restart tir did not help, neither restart the computer.
The usb plug must be pulled and connected again to correct the problem.
Tir is connected to a usb port on the motherboard.
All power save features on usb ports and hubs are off.
No problem in device manager on usb ports and trackir.
ASUS P7P55D motherboard with I7 processor.
Latest bios installed.
Edit
Problem solved, USB port defect.

Re: TrackIr 3 Pro does not respong.
Same Problem as post above.
Windows Vista 64 Software.
TrackIR 4.1.037 Software.
All other USB devices work.
I have to unplug TrackIR and plug it in again to make it work.
Any ideas? Is there a fault with the TrackIR?

Have you tried moving it to another USB port?
laptop/desktop system?
Do you have access to an external USB hub (with AC adaptor) you can try the device on

Mid to High Desktop.
Tried moving, same thing happens again after a couple of boots.
TrackIr plugged direct into USB on motherboard. All other USB devices work even high powered ones.
Will try and obtain powered hub and see if this works?

OK Didn't try powered hub, But tried separate PCI USB card instead. Seems to work perfectly. Why it doesn't work direct on the motherboard ports is anyone's guess.
I'm so relieved I thought the TrackIR was on the way out.
Thanks for your help.
