TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
My TrackIR 4 camera died on me and replaced it with TrackIR 5 (have TrackIR_5.0.Final.b driver). At the same time I had to reinstall FSX for another unrelated reason. TrackIR 5 is working (head movement, etc shown in control panel) and it recognizes FSX is running (right green led on camera lit and blue light on TrackIR control panel lit) which I assume means FSX is enabled however when I'm in the virtual cockpit ready to fly there is no movement in association with head movement. TrackIR 5 works fine with FS9 with no problem. I remember encountering this problem a year ago in October when I upgraded to Win 7 and had to reinstall everything including FSX with Acceleration but can't remember how I resolved it. I've tried starting each application as administrator but no success. In Windows/winsxs there are three "simconn" entries which have been there since last October (modification date 10/27/2009,10/28/2009). I suspect FSX is the problem. I'm using the same DVD software I used last year however this time the curser is a black arrow when in full screen mode but I doubt if that's the problem. You may want to tutor me on those simmconnects. That seemed to be a concern last year. Hope you can help.
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
Any other add-ons installed for FSX?
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
Thanks for the reply Vincent. On this last install I directed FSX to C:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\etc. divorcing it from my previous addons. Prior to this it was assigned to the standard directory ie C:\ Program Files(X86)\ Microsoft Games\etc. where remnants of the previous installations still exist. Therefore I'm assuming this FSX is without addons. You may also need to know that the FSX inst software is Unlicensed Software sent to me free by Microsoft FSX support to enable me to install FSX Delux with Acceleration which includes SP2. This was to resolve a problem I was having adding SP2 to my original FSX Deluxe under Win 7. I am sort of suspecious of this software. Your thoughts on that too. Hope this helps. Larry Ps; Prior to this fiasco my addons worked fine with the TrackIR 5 software.
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
Hi Vincent. I had intended to mention my hardware for FSX, ie Yoke, Pedals & Throttle Quadrent, all USB and I'm almost maxed out on USB ports however I have two in the front with TrackIR 5 Pro plugged into one and the other vacant.
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
I'm guessing the the Simconnect folders, maybe trying to point to the old install, and noiot the new one. In the new application, is there a listing for the Simconnect SDK, which should allow you to try an reinstall simconnect.
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
Hi Vincent. When you refer to "new application" I assume you are referring to my FSX installation software which is on DVD.
When browsing through disc 1, I find a file folder mamed "SDK". In that folder I find a "Windows Installer Package" named "Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK" plus other files. I don't seem to be able to find a listing for "Simconnect SDK" anywhere else on Disc 1 or 2. I was suprised that I was unable to find an entry for the new install in winsxs. Am I thinking straight on this? I'm not sure I understand which application installs the "simconnect". Larry

Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
yes try runing the SDK install
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
When I double click on the MFSX SDK Windows Inataller Package I eventually get this message; "This installation cannot be run by directly launching the MSI package. You must run setup.exe". There is also a setup application file in the SDK folder but when I double click on it the curser indicates there's something going on but it never seems to launch. These are all the files in the "SDK" folder: Default-1 (Cab file), eula.dll (appl ext file, EULA (rich text doc file), Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK (win inst pkg file), setup (appl file) & setup.isn (isn file).
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
Vincent. I checked the folders in my original Microsoft FSX Deluxe software and the SDK folder "Date modified" is the same as the newer disk is "9/9/2006". I also tried to run it from the "setup" file. The disk speeds seem to rise and fall but after a time nothing seemed to happen. There was no dialogue on the screen either except for the active curser. I wonder if it is a Microsoft problem and if the newer Microsoft FSX Gold release would eliminate our problem.
Re: TrackIR 5 with FSX using Win 7
For the TrackIR to work, we are dependent on the simconnect portion of FSX.
