Ok. I did a search of the DVD in Windows Explorer which brings us a little closer I hope. I found some simconnect files under "SXS" (I should have noticed that file) but none seem to be plain application files. Here they are; 1. Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll (Application extension), 2. SimConnect (Security Catalogue), 3. SimConnect.dll (Application extension) and 4. SimConnectManifest (Manifest file). Actually the first application shows this path; D(DVD):\program files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X. I think the second & the fourth end up in C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests and the third in C:\Windows\winsxs. Now my question is what opens the first one and is that the application that installs the "simconnect" for FSX? In addition to FSX, I have FS9 which would represent one of my simconnects in winsxs and it is working with TeackIR at the present time but which of the other two represented FSX in the past (if they did at all) I wouldn't dare to guess. This seems to be as much as I can gleen from the DVD at this time.

OK, FS9 doesn't use simconnect at all, it is something that was introduced with FSX.

Do you have any firewall/antivirus software installed?

Yes. I have Fiewwall & Antivirus through McAfee and perhaps the firewall provided by Win 7. I'm not sure how to check whether Win 7 provides firewall and if it is activated. I don't know if I could find it even if I was back in XP. Too much water under the bridge since OCTOBER, 2009. You asked once if I had any Addons and at the time I was only thinking if Scenery and Aircraft. I have Active Sky X, Active Sky Evolution and Flight Environment X and all three use simconnect to launch FSX and the first two have sinconnect files. The last one has it's own microsoft.flightsimulator.simconnect.dll. I Scanned my installed FSX folder and found a simconnect Menu file in the Uires folder dated 9/26/2007 long before I upgraded to Win 7. Assuming this file may be a remnant of privious installations of FSX, I deleted it temporarily and commenced to reinstall FSX. After reinstallion of FSX I did not get this file. Hmmmm.

OK, so both the green led on the left, and the green led on the right come on, when the gaming application is running?

Running both as admin.

Within active sky, does either software application have a head latency, head control, view control setting?

No. Active Sky is a weather engine which downloads real time weather and applies it to the sim. This engine actually tries to simulate hurricanes. Looks and seems more realistic than the default weather, although I've never been in a hurricane so I'm just guessing. But I belive the problem has been solved. TrackIR works now. In the beginning I was having trouble with FSX when applying the toe brakes on my pedals. It would somehow set the parking brakes. I think the TrackIR problem was just coincidental. Anyway I decided to do a repair on FSX. When the repair finished and launched FSX, I got a "Fatal Error" message and then FSX stopped running. I tried launching again several times using the shortcut having the same result. So I reinstalled FSX using the software Microsoft support had sent me. There were only two DVD's and I assumed (bad word) both FSX Deluxe and FSX Acceleration were on those two disks. After ordering and receiving the "Gold" Edition which includes both features, I found there were three DVD's, the third one containing Acceleration which has SP2 included. The only thing I can figure is somehow FSX Acceleration got corrupted perhaps by my repair. Anyway reinstalling both the Deluxe and Acceleration seems to have solved the problem. That third DVD has to be somewhere in my computer room but it probably won't be found until my kids clean up the place after sending me to the nursing home (only kidding). So thanks Vincent for hanging in with me this far. It would have been solved a long time ago if I could've given you the right information. Larry
