I'm having the exact same problem. I've been successfully using a TIR 3 for years and decided to update to a 5.

I installed the software and connected the TIR without any problems without touching any software settings. It was perfect out of the box.

I use it in my games for a couple of hours and shut it down for a few hours more. Now, it won't settle, it sees reflections everywhere even when I'm in a dark room.

It's offset worse than moilami's. I switched back to software version 4.1.037 and it settled down somewhat but I still have to mount the TIR offset on top of my monitor to at least try and get the track clip to be near the centre.

I've also had to change the light fliter threshold to max to get it to block out everything else otherwise it's just a mass of red.

I'm using Vista Home Premium, 32Bit.

Hello!

My TrackIR 5 begun to get that offset failure problem when I accidentally started the software while wearing the hat. And the problem doesn't go away and there seems to be nothing I can do about it.

Here has been interesting discussion of people having similar problem, so I am not alone. Any ideas how to get it fixed?

Oh well, now it works again. And can't complain of that!

I've gone back to my TrackIR3 and it works perfectly as it has done for the past 5 years.

My TrackIR 5 has been shipped back to the supplier for a replacement. No matter what I tried, it wasn't going to work again.

Vincent,
For info, we have discussed this issue via email ... I'm j22@.....

You suggested my unit was faulty and to return it to where I purchased it. You should have my s/n etc already.

Do you know yet whether this is a hardware or software fault?

Regards,
James

I believe, in your case, we are looking at a hardware failure.

Following up on my case, I received my replacement unit today and it seems to be having the exact same problem again. I was running the unit for a while without playing anything and even with restarts it seems to work fine. I played ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead for probably 10 - 15 minutes, shutdown the game, restarted software and its not working again. This time my serial is 152868. Is there something I can try to fix this or am I to re-send it back for a second replacement unit?
