I am using the version that I downloaded off the NaturalPoint site:
SmartNAV_3.20.037.1.Final
SmartNav - Support - Downloads
A few additional details:
I might have plugged the device in before installing the software, however I followed the troubleshooting instructions in the User Manual to check the drivers, uninstall software and reboot per chapter:
User Manual - Troubleshooting
[9.1 Problem : Software loads and runs, but LED indicator light on unit does not come on. OR you receive a message saying: The system cannot find the file specified or the software could not connect with the SmartNav device]
That said, I didn't have driver issues in Device Manager per step (1b.) and (1c.)

Which version of Windows are you running?
Have you tried uninstalling the SmartNAV software, and installing the 3.20.037 software?

What other applications do you have running on the system?
Are you connected directly to the PC, or are you using a hub?
Are you logged onto the system as an admin?

Hello,
I'm not sure if you noted the exact version in Vince's previous post so I wanted to check. Vince recommended installing 3.20.037 instead of 3.20.037.1 to see if that makes a difference on the crashing. Have you done that specifically?
The 3.20.037 version is an older release and 3.20.037.1 is the most recent release. You might also consider trying 3.20.035 to see if that makes a difference. Its in the download archive.

Hi Birch,
Yes, I didn't notice the difference in versions in Vince's post before but I actually got it to work somehow (with .1) - not sure how but it's working now. I may have not installed the drivers correctly (the windows XP install, after the software install).
Thanks for your help!
David
