Re: TrackIR & FSX Not Connecting (Revisited)

I have exactly the same problem. Things have worked well for literally years, and then after installing the SimCheck A300 update, TrackIR doesn't work in FSX only. TrackIR does work in everything else, so I know that it's not a hardware problem.

Re: FSX, I've just checked, and I have three SimConnect folders in WinSxS with three different versions of SimConnect.

I'd like to try the method you suggest, but my system won't allow me access (access denied). I don't have UAC set, I've tried changing permissions, but the system just won't let me change them.

Any suggestions on how to set the permissions?

Thanks in advance ...

Don't know much about TrackIR, except I did read if you have different versions of SimConnect, copy the latest version to all three folders.

Re permissions, do you have administrator rights? If it is your computer you should have. In XP I go to Control Panels > User Accounts and give access [very dangerous but that is Windows for you].

Re User Account Control (UAC), XP doesn't have one so can't help there. Do a Google search for advice, eg http://preview.alturl.com/525fh

[quote=ahalin]I have just bought TrackIR 4:PRO and am having similar problems with no TrackIR response in Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe v 10.0.61355.0, SP1.

Have you looked at updating to SP2, for FSX?

Sorry, upgrading to SP2 (over 200 Mb) would take hours - we have very slow internet here in sunny East Timor (Timor-Leste). Any other suggestions welcome!

That would be about my only recommendation, as the simconnect portion of FSX had some issues, and would just stop working with the original/SP1 version. Service pack 2 solved some of these issues.

The only other thing to try (when running XP, is to do a repair install of FSX.

1 - Delete the following file folders (should be 2 listed with SP1 installed)
C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_.....................

2 - Insert the FSX CD, and run the repair utility. Basically we are looking to reinstall the folders.

3 - Hopefully this should remedy the issue.

Sorry, I have been away.

Funnily enough I don't get a "repair" option when I put the disk in!

I deleted the .SimConnect_ folders, even removed (renamed) the FSX home directory and saved flights, but the only option I get is to Install. I even tried that but it failed at the 99% mark!

Even more strangely, after putting the original names back on those home directories I can still fly FSX, but can't uninstall as it doesn't show up! Spooky! Time for some Microsoft help....

Anyway, LOMAC and IL-2 are working a treat; TrackIR is a fantastic accessory, if you can get it to work!!!

If FSX is installed, and you can play it, but it does not show up in the uninstaller, and won't re install, there's definately an issue with the FSX installation. It's possible that the issue extends to the connection with the TrackIR device. I'd be interested to see the error message that the installer gives you when you attempt the FSX installation.
