TrackIR 5.1 exception when launched

I use WinXP SP3, 32-bit, and have been running TrackIR 5.1 without problems, until I updated my ATI Catalyst software to

Driver Packaging Version 8.812-110104a-111984C-ATI
Catalyst� Version 10.3

Now, when I launch the trackir software, it throws an error:
AppName: trackir5.exe AppVer: 5.1.0.200 ModName: atioglxx.dll ModVer: 6.14.10.10428 Offset: 004109fc

Since I can't revert my Catalyst software, any chance this can be fixed on your end?

I just read the fix notes for the beta versions and saw that beta 1 was supposed to fix this ATI problem. In my case, it didn't. I am running an ATI Radeon HD5770. However, I did have the software working correctly before I updated to the latest Catalyst software. Unfortunately, I don't rememeber what version of that software I was running before the upgrade, other than it was 10.+.

I tried uninstalling the software and trying 5.0GA, 5.1 beta 1 and 5.1 beta 3. I have the same crash behaviour with all trackir versions.

I had been running 5.0Ga and 5.1 beta 1 successfully, before my ATI driver update.

Hi binwolf,

It looks like your Catalyst driver is about 8 versions out of date. I'd recommend upgrading to 11.1, or at least 10.12 (the last 10.x driver version).

I believe that we tested the ATI fix internally with a driver version far newer than 10.3.

I don't get ATI's numbering system. I reinstalled the 11.2 version that I just downloaded. However, the file naming is 11-1_xp32_dd_ccc_ocl and the Catalyst information shows the version as 10.3.

I did an uninstall, reboot and install of the the newest version, so I don't get it.

How much system memory do you have, and how much memory is on your video card?

4GB RAM and 1GB on the card. Also tried it with 2GB RAM.

I found several old ATI downloads, so I uninstalled 11.1 and reinstalled 10.3. The trackir software worked. I then uninstalled 10.3 and installed 11.1 and got the exception starting trackir.

I also took screen caps of the ATI information centre and noticed that, this time, the 11.1 software didn't report a Catalyst version. I expect there was some leftover registry info on upgrading Catalyst. I was lazy the first time I upgraded and didn't uninstall first.

So, I guess I can revert to 10.3, in the hopes the fix will be forthcoming to 11.1.
