Camera integration

Post by m27 »

Hello.
I have installed in my working center a motion capture system with 8 FLEX:V100R2 cameras. I would like to increase the accuracy adding two new cameras. I would like to know if it would be possible if I add two FLEX:V100 R2 cameras instead of the prevoius ones.
I also would like to know what advantages I will adquire if I used this cameras instead of the previous ones.
Thank you

Hello -

I'm afraid I'm having a bit of difficulty with the question, as you said that you currently have 8 V100R2 cameras, and would like to add two more V100R2 cameras.

If you currently have 8 V100 cameras, and would like to add 2 V100R2 cameras, this should not create any problems with your setup. The R2 version of the V100 cameras are completely compatible with the first generation cameras.

If you currently have 8 V100R2 cameras, and would like to add 2 S250e cameras, unfortunately at this time mixing of ethernet and USB based product lines is not supported.

are they compatible?
which are the advantages if I use these cameras?
Thank you

Hi M27

They are totally compatible, the FS cameras give you the capability of recording video simultaneously to your marker capture. Very handy when needing video reference of the shoot.

The video also helps sometimes when needing to make corrections when cleaning up the data.

hope this helps

To elaborate a bit further--the FS functionality is specifically used when the cameras are in scene video mode. If you're purchasing cameras for extra tracking capability, you would be running them in a marker tracking mode (like Segment or Precision Grayscale), not scene video mode. Unless you're planning on using the cameras for scene video, the FS feature will not be a necessary one for you. It won't affect you negatively--you just wouldn't be using that feature for actual marker tracking.

So, to summarize:

- If using a camera for marker tracking, FS is not utilized. (But it also won't harm your tracking--it just won't be used.)
- If using a camera for scene video, FS offers some benefits like ambient illumination options and a slightly improved image quality.
