We now sell a calibration wand kit! The kit contains selectable marker rails for either 250mm or 500mm calibration. You can see the kit on our catalog page here:

If I am understanding correctly you are saying that this new 3 point calibration wand kit will now work with the camera set up recomended by Natural point and is small enough to fit in the capture volume? If I already payed 290.00 bucks for the 3 point wand will I be able to get just the replacement 250mm rail?

Unfortunately, there is no upgrade path, as the Calibration Kit is a new product. The kit is a nice upgrade, however, as it provides the appropriate components to do a 500mm or 250mm calibration, as well as a nice case for storing components to prevent damage.

On a side note, the previous OptiWand retailed for $99. If you paid $290 for one, please email support@naturalpoint.com with your order number and I can look into that for you.

Does the new 3 point wand at 250mm fit in the exspression recommended camera 2 foot apart camera set up? The last 3 point wand at 400mm was two big to do this.

Yes.

The 250mm wand was designed with Expression and desktop rigid body tracking in mind.

My last question must of slipped by you. So I will ask it again. When will you be coming out with a video showing how to use this new 3 point wand and were to make the necessary adjustments in the software so it works properly?

My apologies on missing this one:

At current, I am trying to work on a documentation push so that we can better serve people through written and video documentation. Release dates are not known at this time, however.

To answer your question on functionality, switching the wand size is a fairly simple procedure. When you launch the calibration wizard, you get the introductory splash screen. After clicking next, towards the bottom of the window there is a dropdown that allows you to select the wand size.

Wanding then continues as you normally would.

It is important to note, that we have recently discovered an issue that causes the wand size to improperly scale the volume, so I would highly encourage you to select "Scale capture volume" on the ground plane screen before setting the ground plane, to ensure that your measurements are appropriate. Once the calibration is complete, if you place the wand in the volume, you can select the outer two markers, and verify that the distance between them is correct.

Thank you for the info on this. Only thing I am not clear on is the select the outer markers to verify that the distance is correct. Is this done while it is live when wanding or after calibration?
