Trackir5 software freeze my PC/Windows

Hello. I have Trackir5 over a year and I dont know what i would have done without it. Amazing product.

Anyway, few days ago i started to have strange problem with my trackir. Each time i try to start the program (trackir 5.1.3) my win (7) just freeze and doesnt respond. I tried to check about it but no avail.

I tried to downgrade to 5.1 but still freeze. Tried to downgrade to program version 4 and the program works but my trackir doesnt.

Sometimes when I re-install and unplug and plug it. it works but if i reset my PC it will stop to work and freeze my pc again.

I tried to make my usb in device manager without power saver and it still doesnt work.

my specs are:
CPU: Intel Q9450
Memory: A-data 2GBx2
motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon 4870 Crossfire
Power: Crosair 750W

need anything else?

anyway i really need your help... its hard to play my favorite sims without trackir...

please help me!

I just started having the same problem..... It will freeze when playing. All the lights are green but if you cover the pro-clip the camera will not blink off. Its like the unit just stops. I checked the updates and Im all updated, I did have one of the faulty units with the red screen of death, but it has been working fine sence the replacement....

So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, changed USB ports to no avail. I�m going to run it outside the game for awhile to see if that makes a difference. The problem is the TrackIR program is what�s locking up not the game. I have had to restart the software several times before it will work. I have noticed the green lights on the graph in the upper right corner are not all the same brightness. I have increased the camera intensity and still no luck.

Just out of curiosity AirZone, what game are you using it on? Just wanted to see if it was the same game�

I too am totally lost without the system now and I have only had it for a short time� LOL

Lets try this with the TrackIR 4 software. Also, MikeJ is correct, it would be good to know what game you're attempting to run, as well as if there are entries in the event log.


Unplug your camera, and uninstall the TrackIR software.
Download a new copy of the latest version of the TrackIR software, and save it to your desktop (note: do not run from the downloader).
Right click on the installer, and select "Run as administrator" (even if your account is an administrator) Finish the installation as normal, plug in your camera, and verify that drivers are properly installed via the device manager.
Run the software, and see if it works properly.

about the questions - Im not attempting to run any game, Im just trying to open the software (trackir5) and it freezes my pc. But i want to play Strike Fighters 2 series.

Ok I did what you said Mike (from NaturalPoint) and when i open the program (trackir4) the pc doesnt stuck, but the leds in the trackir i got blinks for couple of times then i see a constant red light in both of the leds. in the program it says the device info :trackir pro: 109294
but somehow i cant make it work in game...

In the bottom it says status: no device.

Yeah, If I unplug it still freeze my pc.
I'm kinda clueless what cause the problem. Mabye the ATI driver?

Hi Guys,

I have reinstalled 2 times, just not as Admin. It has worked find after you guys sent it back, just started a few days ago. Ill try the Admin install.

Well that did not go well, after I reinstalled it as an Admin it locked up in the game and the camera light would not go off after I closed the TIR panel. I had to re-boot the system to kill the camera?????

I tell you Mike its like the time I was getting the red screen, it will play fine when you start it but after 15 min or so it just locks in place. I can hit the F9 key and the light will come on, it will play fine and then lock up. I TAB out of the game and its locked up or frozen in place. If you unplug the camera after it locks and it will say No Device Detected...

I will retry it with the TIR 4 software link in your post.....

Please help I can not play without the dammed thing now LOL

Installed TIR4 software... (Boy did you guys really make some major improvements with your TIR5 software ) Both lights came on and the head movement was just spinning, I don't think it liked the pro clip.

I'm kind of spent for ideas Mike...... Any help would be very much appreciated!
