Hi guys,
I've set up the system the first time. Everything works fine and the data was good. Except that the skeleton size has to be set 142cm to match the captured points. But the actor is 187cm tall.
Can anyone give me a clue?
Many many thanks!
Actor height shrinked
Re: Actor height shrinked
I think we are having this same problem.
The actually person in the suit is much smaller than in our previous version of Arena.
Is there a way to "scale up" the actual actor? We can make the "character" in arena match the points by changing the height ie. 4ft. 5in...... when I'm actually 5 ft 10 inches....
When we bring the data into Motion Builder it "scrunches" up the character and looks a like an umpa lumpa.....hehehe
Any ideas?

Re: Actor height shrinked
We found a "scale" dialog on the export data screen..... we were able to increase the size of the data being exported to 125%. This seems to be a work around solution.
Is there another way to accoplish this task so it doesn't have to be done to every file on export?
A "properties" setup page or something?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Actor height shrinked
Arena version 1.7.2 now includes a wand size selection due to the addition of two new standard wand sizes (500 and 250mm). When you enter the calibration wizard, you are given the option of selecting a wand size, which the software then uses to scale the volume. If you use a 400mm wand in a calibration with 500mm selected, it will cause your actors to appear 25% larger. Conversely, if you use a 500mm wand with a 400mm setting, it will cause the actor to appear 20% smaller. This can cause problems with the shoulder and height measurements in the skeleton wizard, abd cause very odd looking deformities and tracking problems in the shoulders.
If you are unsure, during the ground plane phase, select the two points that make up the long side of the ground plane and check the measurements. If it's not between 399mm and 401mm, check the "scale volume" box before setting the ground plane.

Thanks Mike! I think we are still one version behind on our software... I will double check the version and report back.
We just upgraded recently to the first version with the 3 ball wand. I will get more concrete info on all of our software and report back.
Thanks again!

Hey Mike!
We are using version 1.6.3.
We are using the 500mm 3 ball wand. In the Camera Calibration Wizard we found (under the wand acquistion section)
Wand Lengh(mm). The default setting is 400. We changed it to 500 to match our wand size and got some weird results. Arena looked like it starting trying to catch the data for the calibration and then just stops. When we set it BACK TO 400 it starts catching the samples for calibration no problem.
Should we NOT change the Wand Length to 500 to match the wand size?
Confused.
Thanks for your continued help!

PS. I have a screen capture of our settings but not sure how to load an image here on the forum.
