Camera setup

Hello, I�m performing a few tests with the optitrack mocap system and I have some questions about the camera setup.

To begin with, I have a 23 square feet surface which is 13 feet tall.

For this type of room, which setup is best? Hexagonal(6 tripods with 2 cameras on each) or square (with 8 cameras in the top row and 4 in each corner)?

Regarding lenses, where do you recommend using the 3.5mm and where the 4.5mm? Are 3.5mm lenses useful for the cameras in the top row?

Finally, which is the recommended height for each camera?

I forgot to say that I have V100 cameras. 12 of them.

Are the dimensions of the area 23x23 or is the 23 square feet an area measurement?

Those are the dimensions of the room where we have the system installed.

I'd go square, 8x at 8-10 feet and 4x at 4-6 feet, all in landscape (lens over numbers) and probably brought in a bit to 20x20. I'd probably start with all 4.5 lenses then adjust individual cameras as needed to increase volume size.

One last question: which is the minimum number of cameras that have to see one of the markers so that the system can track its location?

For example, when i am wanding, the minimun number of cameras that have to see the wand to start ''painting'' the screen is five.

Or maybe it has nothing to do with that and the system works in another different way. You tell me!

Adjustable through the settings - point cloud tab. Minimum lines defaults to three, and can be set as low as two or as high as your maximum camera count. In a 12 camera system, two would be the best way to go for motion capture, and 3-4 for wanding.

And also, you mentioned that the minimum number of cameras for wanding can be changed too. Is is Min Camera Coverage %?

Unfortunately no. I am in the midst of a large documentation project, and we should see some comprehensive manuals down the line, but they are not completed yet. Every option in the point cloud tab has a tooltip, though, that appears when you hover over the number box.
