Oh forgot to say...

Both guys tried re-installing TIR 5 as administrator.
They also set "Run as Administrator" permission in the compatibility section of all exe's in the lockon "x86/Stable" folder...

Still no joy, everything except the ESC key freezes up when loading up a mission.

Is the key lock occuring only when loading a mission? Do the keys return to normal use after mission start?

What are the user hotkeys set to for TrackIR? Are the hotkeys set to trap?

Hello! im one of the guys who's actually having this problem..

Yes, I've tried in both singleplayer(wich you have to click "Pause-break" button) and also multiplayer(wich you don't have to press that button because it's already running, but still doesn't work. I've done everything as what it says in here and I've even used "DisableUACforAdmins" to make it work.

Would be glad with some answers.

Additional notes:
- No hotkeys are set to "Trap"
- All firewalls and antivirus progs were disabled.
- Window mode enabled.

Curiosity:
In LOMAC-FC2, the menues & options are handled by "Launcher.exe". The actual
game resides in "Simulator.exe", which is not launched by the user, but by
"Launcher.exe". (When the user starts a mission.)

I was a bit surprised when we realized that while checking the curves of the
TrackIR in the "options"(Launcher.exe), as one for example does to change the
sensitivity for the X/Y axis of the joystick, the TrackIR was actually being
tracked and working fine... However, the actual game(i.e Simulator.exe) was
still locking up without fail...

It really does sound like there is some kind of UAC stuff messing stuff up
behind the scene. Is there some way to give an exe file total and complete
authority to do whatever it wants? ...or to put the UAC completely to sleep?

To kill UAC:
Start
Control Panel
click the green "User Accounts" text
click the green "User Accounts" text again
Change user account control settings
Take the slider all the way to the bottom.

Restart

Try uninstalling and reinstalling all applications again (Trackir and lomac)

Update:
While "we" have yet to re-install Lomac, (lengthy process), I did accidentally run into the
issue myself while trying out my x52(standard) throttle...

My setup:
- Windows 7, Pro, 64 bit, Eng
- Intel i5(750)
- 8GB RAM
- 2x Gigabyte Geforce 460 1GB

USB Devices
- Logitech G11(Keyboard)
- Logitech MX518(Mouse)
- Logitech G940(Joystick+Throttle)
- Logitech Table Microphone
- Saitek Flight Pedals
(Up to this point everything works perfectly in LOMAC-FC2)

Repro:
- Unplug the G940-Throttle, (leaving the stick connected)
- Plug in the Saitek x52 Throttle, (without the x52 stick)

Result:
- Starting LOMAC-FC2 now loads me into a frozen state, where nothing responded except the ESC-key...
- The CAPSLOCK, SCROLLLOCK & NUMLOCK still made the keyboard light flash though.

Thoughts...
- I have yet to ask my friends load up LOMAC without the joystick connected.
(Will update after installing latest drivers.)

- I only used the windows default drivers for the x52.
(Will update after installing latest drivers & windows update.)

Whaddya know...
I guess birds of a feather... When it rains it pours... and all that.
...I managed to run across yet another guy with a similar problem.

Finding an old backup of the original FC2 installation allowed me to easily
test and finally find a solution which has now worked for 2 out of 4. The
original two has yet to try it, but it seems likely that it will work.

Solution 1: (Does not cost an activation)
- Replace the FC2 install with a backup copy of the original install.
(While making sure to check "run as administrator" all the way)

Solution 2: (Costs an activation)
- Uninstall, and re-install FC2.
(While making sure to check "run as administrator" all the way)

Normally I would have re-installed without giving it a second thought, but
the copy-protection used for this game meant it actually costs something to
attempt the re-install.

Finally
I wish to thank Natural Point once again for the time and effort put into
this. I already knew that you had an excellent product, but it was lovely
to see that your Customer relations is equally professional.

Hello,

Sorry to be reviving a year old thread but I just ordered my TrackIR 5 to use with FC 2 and was reading what problems I might possibly run into. From what I can take away from this thred is that I should re-install FC 2 into its Program Files directory and usijg "Run As Administrator" on both TrackIR5 software installation and FC2 installation. Is there anything else I am missing? Once I start FC2 for the first time with TIR5 do I have to configure the axes of view in the FC 2 views options or will it work right off the bat without me doing anything??

Thanks for any advice.

Being that this is a rather old thread I would just make sure that you have all the updates and patches for FC-2 and install the latest software for the TrackIR from our website. The latest at this time is 5.2 Beta 2, which can be downloaded from http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html

If you have any issues after that you can always post to the forum or email support@naturalpoint.com

Have fun with your new TrackIR!
