TrackIR and FSX

Hey guys, quick question for those who have trackir. When i start in the NGX i press pause(F9) on trackir and then move my pilots head back a little bit(Ctrl + Enter) because i feel the pilots head is always too close to the panel as default. However when i press F9 agian to unpause trackir it always resets the position of the pilots head back closer to where is was. Anybody have a trick or know a key you have to press to keep the head where you want it. By the way i only prefer yaw and pitch in trackir so moving my head back will not fix it

Hello -

There's two approaches to this:

1. You could edit the config file for the airplane. Airplane config files contain the location of the center of view, and that can be moved around to your preference.

2. You could enable the z axis in TrackIR, lean slightly forward, hit f-12 to center, then go back to resting. The end result will be a "backed off" centerpoint.

To be more specific, in the aircraft.cfg file for each respective aircraft there is a setting for the eyepoint which is your initial position as a pilot in the cockpit. There are 3 numbers. The first is to move back(-) or forward (+). The second is for moving left (-) or right (+) and the third is for down (-) or up (+). Be careful with how much you change these but I found that reducing the 'back' by about 1 works well for me. Also make sure you save the original copy somewhere and maybe change the name to cessna 152 aircraft.cfg original or something like that. One last note: Some aircraft lose mouse 'click spots' if you move too far back, so find a compromise.
