Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
The Trackir software is eating up 25% of my CPU when minimised. I'm certain it used to be as low as 2-3%. On top of this the software is highly unstable and buggy, crashing when I do something as simple as clicking the Menu buttton in the top left. Trackir.exe is also still left running after I close the application.
I've tried removing the software and all traces from the registry, then reinstalling latest / older version. I've closed down other potentially conflicting applications like afterburner / ambx software etc. Running as admin, installing as admin... Nothing seems to have any effect.
Any help would be appreciated. My CPU is an i7 930 clocked at 3.8ghz.

Does it run this high when no game is running? How does it run when a game is running? What version of windows are you using? What peripherals do you use for simming (joysticks, et. cetera)
Re: Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
Hi Mike,
This is when running the Trackir software, no game. I got curious and began looking after DCS A10c and BS2 started to stutter more than usual. I'm running under Windows 7 x64 and use an X52 with pedals. I also have Cyborg amBX lights, which I've tried to rule out as best I can.
After the software bugs out and I try to exit, a message box pops up with 'An unsupported operation was attempted'; Clicking OK closes this and the Trackir software, however it's still running when I check Task Manager.

Re: Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
Does it do this if you unplug the X52?
Re: Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
Yep all the testing i've done has been with the X52 unplugged. I just ran Black Shark 2 and the CPU usage for Trackir is the same at 25%.
Re: Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
Ok, so I completely removed the amBX lights plus software and Trackir is back to normal (yay!) I can't see anything on the net pointing to a conflict with these two peices of kit though. Have you had any experience with this?

Hmm, haven't heard of something like this causing issues, do you have links to the system or components you're using?

The amBX lights are made by madcatz

I've asked for help on their forum, but nothing yet.

Re: Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
Are the titles you're running specifically supported by AMBX or do they use the screen analysis for basic lighting?
Re: Trackir 5, high CPU usage?
Hi. No they don't directly support amBX, however the issue occurs on the desktop, not only in game.
I've just started talking to an amBX guy on their forum if you want to have a look. You might have to register to view the thread. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an immediate solution.
