FSX viewpoint shift

Greetings-

When using Track IR 5 with FSX, I am continuously finding my self resetting my center point with the F12 key. It seems that the yaw forces of my aircraft are having a "g force" like effect on my view...For instance, turning left causes my center point to shift right, and vice versa. I am focusing on the center point on my aircraft's HUD, but have to constantly reset my center point. I'm curious if there is a feature with the TIR5 software I should disable, or if someone knows how to do it through FSX. Thanks for the support!

Using Track IR5, TrackClip and FSX.

Hmm, doesn't sound like a TrackIR issue, as TrackIR just reports head position to the game and allows the game to decide what's happening. How pronounced is the shift?

Thanks for replying so quickly Mike!

The shift is fairly dramatic when on the ground and turning left or right. I'm also noticing it in the air in my turns and pitch manuevers. If centering off the pilot yoke or HUD cue (PMDG's NGX), I'd guess it's about a 6 inch shift left or right scale wise. I've tried disabling the g forces in FSX and also tinkered with the "true view" and a few of my settings in the TIR5 sowftware. I do not experience this problem with DCS Warthog at all, which leads me to think it's an FSX issue. I'll do some searching in FSX forums I come across, and will certainly let you know my findings. Try running it with the X axis disabled and see if you still have the same issue. If it disappears, you can always create an FSX profile without the x axis enabled and associate that with just FSX.

So far Mike, no luck... I tried disabling the "X" axis, and keep having the same issue. I thought FSX had a feature where I can disable the forces in my 3D cockpit. The TIR5 is working great- I just can't seem to keep it centered in the game. It looks as if the "pilot" (me) is leaning or being pushed by forces when when in a turn. Mostly observed on the ground during my taxi. I'll keep tinkering with my settings and see if I can figure this out...Thanks much for your input!

Are you wearing the TrackClip on a hat or TrackClip Pro on your headset? How is it oriented?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner Mike...

After much research, it all has to do with the FSX Config files for the NGX...nothing to do with Track IR. I use the Hat clip, and my sensor is mounted above my monitor per the instructions. I noticed the same issue without the TIR5. The viewpoint shift is most noticeable when using slew mode, and doing a left or right 360. I was told that it has to do with the "true view" being selected within FSX, not TIR. I still have yet to try it, but will post my findings. I absolutely LOVE your product- and tech support...thanks for all the help!

Okay...this is from the AVSIM forum... I'll try it and see if it works!



Open the fsx.cfg file with notepad
in windows 7 it is normally here: C:\Users\XYZ\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX (replace XYZ with your username)

find the heading
[DynamicHeadMovement]

under this heading will be the following entry:
HeadMoveTimeConstant=1.000000

change it to 0 so that it look like this.
HeadMoveTimeConstant=0.000000

SAVE the fsx.cfg file.

restart FSX and you will see there is no more head movement

(no need to adjust the other entries under [DynamicHeadMovement] )

However if you want to still have head movement but to slightly lesser degree the entry above should stay at 1 and then you need to tweak the other entries..
LonAccelOnHeadLon=-0.020000
LonAccelOnHeadPitch=-0.010000
MaxHeadAngle=5.000000
MaxHeadOffset=0.300000
RollAccelOnHeadLat=0.010000
RollAccelOnHeadRoll=0.100000
YawAccelOnHeadLat=-0.100000

NB: Changing FSX.cfg is your own responsibility and it is always a very good isea to first make a backup before you change the file, so that if you mess up you can always restore the backup file.
