Need some help with organising mocap studio

Hello everyone, its a pleasure to join your community.
My name is Tom, im a lead animator in the Polish game developing studio "cdproject red", soon we will be buying 18 s250e cameras setup from You, i cant wait already For now we are working on the place for the setup, and we have pretty big issue here: a pillar.
I dont really know what to do about it, obviously id love to be able to use the whole area that we have for the mocap, but i suppose the pillar will cut out a pretty big part of the room. Unless You guys maybe have any ideas on how to avoid it?
I will so much apreciate the help from you!

What are the lengths of both A and B as noted in this picture?

Hello Mike, thank you for quick reply.
The pillar dimensions are 42cm x 42cm, B distance is 258 cm.
A is 72cm, but it starts 306cm from the ground, and goes up to the sealing, so for us 42cm is a right measurement i believe.

It would likely be best to ignore the area in pink on the map. You will have a long dimension of just under 10m which will allow for a volume of usable capture space about 7.5m x 4.5m (possibly slightly larger or smaller, depending on aiming). You'd likely lose too much by trying to add the extra 2m and navigating around the pillar than you would by bringing it in.

Thats what i thought. Damn pillar, oh well, ill then use that area for pc, probably some space for props etc.

Hello,
Im back with a brand new question
So, since we are planning on recording swordplay, also will be using the same room for swordplay practicing, we are goin to make a checker on the ground, 50cm x 50cm, and im wondering if black-white checker could interrupt cameras somehow? I dont really think so, but id love to be sure before ill actually make that happen

What type of swordplay are you planning on recording, fencing? I'd be interested to see how this works out.

Thanks alot for the reply Mike. The surface will be matt.
We will be recording midleage swordplay, heavy two handed type, and maybe some fencing too, also some other weapons, like daggers, halberds, etc. Our previous game is witcher 2, and the next one that we are making is also based on dark fantasy realms, so if you are interested in what are we goin to record, you could see some gameplay videos on youtube since it will be pretty simmilar at some points.

Hello,
I have one new question about hardware.
I am now completing an order on the optitrack website, tryin to set up the best package for our needs.
Im wondering about what option should i choose for a wall mount,
is "Manfrotto Wall Mount" what i need? I dont see an option for camera tilting up - down, on it. And im pretty sure ill need this functionality. Or maybe i should get "Manfrotto Super Clamp"?

Hi Entrop,

The Manfrotto Wall Mounts do articulate up and down, so they should be sufficient for your setup. The Super Clamps are designed to attach to camera stands, truss, etc. They won't fix to a wall, and they shouldn't be necessary in conjunction with the wall mounts.
