tracking tools crash when calibrating 3+ s250e

Post by vyv »

Hi,

first, here is our setup :

- Tracking tools 2.3.3
- Windows XP
- 1 V120:SLIM ( 139533 ) which is only use as the activation key for the software and 3 S250:E ( M002506 , M002512 , M002513 ) connected to a TrendNet POE switch model TPE - 80WS(A)
- A 500mm 3 marker wand

What's working :

- All the S250:E cameras are well detected and added to the camera group 2 automatically ( group 1 is for the V120:SLIM ). We can then modify the properties of this group ( like exposure , threshold ,etc ) without any problem. So everything seems to work fine with the cameras.

What's not working :

- We select the camera group 2 in the 3-Marker Wand calibration panel and then press 'Start Wanding'. After that, the application crashes every single time, but it is random ( it takes between 0 and 10 seconds ). So sometimes we see some data being collected, sometimes not.

We tried almost every combination of options in the 3-Marker Wand calibration panel, but it doesn't change anything.

We also tried the new beta version, but it's not working either.

In the previous weeks, we did a lot of tests with three V120:SLIM and everything worked just great. We were confident enough to use the Tracking tools for our project so we decided to buy three S250:E and now we cannot event calibrate.

Any idea ?

Thanks

Alex

Forgot to mention that it works if we use only 2 cameras...

With 3 cameras, it crashes like 2-3 seconds after clicking start wanding.

With 4 cameras, it is almost instantenous.

We also tried 3 different computers ( XP and windows 7 )

This is due to the use of Tracking Tools with a USB camera as the hardware lock device instead of a standard hardware key.

I have been able to find a work around using the 2.5.0 beta that we are posting within the next 24 hours. Please check the OptiTrack site for the software.

Step 1: Start Tracking Tools 2.5.0 beta with all S250e cameras connected, as well as the license V120:Slim
Step 2: Individually Drag the S250e cameras from group 3 into group 1, delete group 3 once it is empty. Group 1 should now contain all cameras.
Step 3: Uncheck the V120:Slim camera in the cameras window, select group 1 for calibration, and start wanding.
Step 4: Once wanding is finished, calculate and apply.
Step 5: If the V120:Slim has checked itself at the end of calibration, uncheck again. Right click on the camera in the 2d or 3d view, and select "Remove Camera"

You will now be able to use just the S250e cameras without the V120:Slim. If you need assistance or a walkthrough, I can arrange a remote desktop session during normal business hours.

Hopefully we will have a more complete solution for you in the final software release.
