Can't get tIR working in FSX

Post by nuothe11th »

Hi, I just installed TrackIR 5 on my new rig with FSX, but I cannot get the motion to work in FSX.

The software appears to load up correctly.

I get two green lights on the unit, and a blue light in the corner of the software window, and an indication that FSX is connected. Pausing and centering are functional.

The software shows my head motions on the POV screen.

I have FSX, SP1 and Acceleration installed and verified.

I am in VC view in FSX

I attempted to repair the FSX installation (but not a from-scratch reinstall yet)

I have both TrackIR and FSX set to Administrator mode.

I have made program exceptions for TrackIR and FSX in Windows Firewall. I've even shut down Windows Firewall completely, still didn't work.

I've unassigned "F9" in FSX.

I've unassigned my hat switch on my Pro Flight Yoke to look around.

Any help? I'm willing to do remote desktop.

Thanks!

Issue resolved.
Solution was to delete the simconnect folders (which was a pain, had to dig deep into the folder ownership structure to get permission to delete them) and then I had to uninstall FSX Acceleration and replace it with SP2.

A repair installation of FSX followed by reapplying updates can work to fix Simconnect, as well, without uninstalling.

FSX uninstaller, by the way, does not remove the Simconnect directories, which means you will have to manually remove them from winsxs regardless.
