I've just received TIR3 w/ Vector

Post by Merc »

Just received the TIR3 with Vector Exp.
Interesting lookin like a martian sittin on top
of my monitor.
<***chuckle***> lites up good with red green and martian blue when active LoL.
Veiws are kind of fast and everyonce in a while the veiws stick lookin down at the cockpit floor?
But it's just a matter of adjusting the curves I'm sure, as I've checked frame rates in both Forgotten Battles/A.E.P. and Pacific Fighters and the TIR3 doesnot seem to interfear with them at all.
Now if I could only learn to actually use the situtational awareness the TIR3 offers,...I might stand a chance against a rookie
TB3 pilot LoL.
It will take sometime getting used to being helped by this new Martian, but I'm havin a blast while doing so.

Barred 279,
In your tracking I've noticed that you are wearing the TIR3's Hat with the Vector Expansion Clip. As the 3 green symetrical bars on your tracking screen would indicate that.
Yet, you have your tracking set to track dot,
not to track hat.
Is there better preformance if I track the dots?

If you have a Vector you should always tell the sofwtare what you have. This will improve the overall tracking.

"track hat" means just the single dot built into the hat

versus

"dot tracking" means using the vector clip on the hat as you then have a 3 dot grouping while the hat dot is ignored buy the software.

I got a little confused at first on this setting also but as usual when all else fails read the directions. So it should really should say dotS tracking lol
Oh yea also if your view suddenly tweaks out the wrong way your probably droping your dots out of the little alien head's field of view so check that you have full range of viewing motion on the mirror setting thing that shows you your dots in a window and make sure is centered lft rt up dn.

Hey Jason, couldn't the track hat be redone as a vector configuration...having 2 reflectors like the clip on the bill and dot on the front logo area of the hat? NaturalPoint logo on the back and Track IR on the front with the single reflector above in the center.
Not that the clip is bad mind you, I just ping it off the hat every now and then while adjusting the hat at times. Just a thought for you.

N8 G, I had thought of building the Vector into the hat, but the only way for that to work would to have a solid front because the Vector's triganometry could easily be disrupted. The reason that I say this is becuase of all the differnet ways people wear their hats and the way that the front dimentions can be distorted by the way the hat is worn sometimes.

It would be great if an active solution could be built into a hat though

Normally while using the "Track Hat" setting you would have the vector clip on as the relective area on the clips and on the tip of the hat has a wider pixel area then that of a single dot.

"Dot mode" is for a single small dot somewhere on the head, glasses, mic, etc...

Easy fix...just wear a ball cap normal no style points on a ball cap piece of equipment. I'll wear mine actually higher on my forhead just to allow better line of sight for the ir cam to pick up better. I just want it to work well and there really is no comfort thing that i can tell. It either feels like im wearing a hat or not lol
but seriously all that would need to be more solid would be there reflector band on the front
not the whole thing course u could go with the big top trucker ball cap which has the real tall flat front
